We are incredibly proud to announce that our Co-founder and MEAL Director, , has been accepted into Cohort 4 of the 2026 beVisioneers and her Financial Support application was approved too!

Kevin's fellowship focus sits squarely in the environmental and climate action space, building on work we're already driving on the ground in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement:

♻️ Eco-briquette production turning waste into clean, affordable, and climate-smart fuel alternatives for refugee households
🌱 Smart climate-resilient farming equipping refugee and rural communities with sustainable agriculture practices that protect livelihoods against a changing climate

This is more than an individual achievement. It's a validation of the model has built from the ground up: refugee youth designing, leading, and scaling their own solutions to the challenges facing their communities from green enterprise to climate-smart livelihoods.

As part of beVisioneers, Kevin will gain access to cutting-edge learning content, mentorship from industry experts, and a global community turning planet-positive ideas into action. We know he'll bring that knowledge straight back to Kyangwali strengthening our ECOBRIQS INNOVATION HUB and our Smart Climate Agricultural Livelihoods Programme (SCALP) for the youth, women, and families we serve.

Strengthening Community-Based Protection and Recovery in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement

This week marked an important milestone as we successfully concluded a three-day Caseworker Induction Training under the Dignity, Production and Recovery Project, supported by UNHCR Uganda through United Nations OCHA funding. Over the course of three intensive days, 9 dedicated caseworkers drawn from refugee-led organizations under the Consortium were equipped with practical skills in case management, protection mainstreaming, safeguarding, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), livelihoods support, disability inclusion, referral pathways, and community outreach.

The training concluded with practical assessments, and deployment preparations to ensure every caseworker is fully prepared to serve communities with professionalism, dignity, and accountability.

The Dignity, Production and Recovery Project is a refugee-led consortium initiative designed and implemented Refugee Youth for Rural Innovations and Integral Development Initiative , (HuSA) and (UMRF) to strengthen resilience, recovery, and self-reliance among refugees and host communities in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement.

Through integrated livelihoods, psychosocial support, financial inclusion, and Community Based protection interventions, the project seeks to create pathways toward dignity, economic empowerment, and sustainable recovery for vulnerable households. This project demonstrates the power of locally led action, where refugee-led organizations are not only implementing programmes but actively designing solutions for their own communities.

As we move from training into implementation, we celebrate the commitment of our newly inducted caseworkers and the collaborative efforts of all consortium partners who continue to champion inclusive, community-driven development.

Together, we are building stronger communities, restoring dignity, and creating opportunities for lasting recovery.
