ong others; we decided to make Kyangwali our home and try to improve the way of life of our communities. Beginning as a girls club in 2007, we brought together illiterate girls and women to knit and design table cloth as a source of household income. We then impacted lives of 20 people/households. Thanks to #Sifa and #Juwelia for leading this group of women (P4T Girls Club). In 2009, we realized the need to fight the most pressing community problems of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Human Immune Virus (HIV) using the girls in the club and boys in the community, we formed Struggle Group that specialized in educating the community about GBV and HIV through drama. This group reached it climax when it won the award for the best educative drama in the whole refugee settlement, from IMC. Thanks to #Bora and #Ercule for the wonderful leadership and management. In 2010, we decided to go beyond our means/capacity. Recognizing that the community was still facing numerous problems, we started mobilising community to solve its own problems. The campaign was all about "How much can we do for our community without seeking for assistance" which is not there. We preached humanitarianism and voluntarism to everyone and we managed to get members who cleared access roads, cleaned unprotected water sources, constructed residence shelters and latrines for Extremely Vulnerable Individual (EVIs) like the ill-sick and the elderly. This big umbrella of willing hardworking community members impacted many lives until 2012 and earned local recognitions (The list here is endless, AbouOmar, Akeem, Zawadi, Ashraf, Bienvenue, Khalid and many others). In 2013, we finally put a landmark to our physical address. Using the award to one of our directors on refugee day (The refugee woman of the year, for impacting lives of refugee communities), we managed to purchase construction materials for establishing our first office block. Thanks to our humanitarian volunteers who worked tirelessly to put up the office. We can not thank you enough madam Zawadi, AbouOmar, Jackson, Zayo and many others). In the same year (2013), we got the legal status as a Community Based Organisation on August 13, 2013. The recognition by the Ugandan Government through Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development allowed us to open a bank account, and lobby for funds using the organisation name. In the same year (2013), we entered into Partnership with Action Africa Help (AAH), the implementing partner of UNHCR; to cultivate beans and maize to four households of unaccompanied minors. In 2014, our works continued using the same principles of volunteerisms and humanitarianism, boosting our activities in Mwangaza WOmens Group in Kyebitaka Village and Join hands Together group in Kasonga Village. In 2015, we partnered with World Vision Uganda and constructed 35 latrines for People Living with Disabilities (PLWD) in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement. In the same year (2015), we won a PEPFAR grant from the US Embassy in Kampala to implement Living Positively HIV and OVC project. This project provided social and economic empowerment to 81 households of Orphans and Vulnerable Children affected and/or infected with HIV. From October 15, 2015 to September 14, 2016, we supported 81 households and impacted lives of over 400 people through skills trainings, agricultural inputs, and startup kits among others. In May 2015, we again tried the impossible. Considering that children in the community lacked access to quality education, we decided to use our office boardroom to establish an Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre. To date the school is supporting over 500 Orphans and Vulnerable Children who are provided with hot meals at school, trained in computer, and receiving high quality education. P4T Nursery and Primary school is also providing employment opportunities to 18 teaching and non teaching staff. Without any guaranteed source of funding, we have tried to provide the best we can in the temporary structures, and using both qualified and unqualified teaching staff; we are trying to make it better.

2017 was a year of helping out. Through partnerships with Human Wire and Partner for Today e.V, we supported 15 households with material needs and psychosocial support. Around the same time, we were introduced to #RefuAid which financed our first external audits and later supported salaries for our teachers for a year in 2018.

2018 was a year of connections. Through Partner for Today e.V, 02 senior staff of P4T flew to Germany for 2 weeks to attend a training on Global Learning with Kolping Youth Services under a Germany government program WeltzWarts. As a result, P4T hosted 02 WeltzWarts volunteers in Kyangwali in early 2019. P4T also did needs assessment on healthcare needs with the MENA Regional Director for #MEDIGLOBAL

2020 was a Covid-19 for everyone and many didn't imagine P4T would survive through the economic meltdown. But as a dynamic organization solving community problems, 05 members of our Covid-19 Taskforce trained with International Volunteer Doctors online and created awareness in the communities. In partnership with #Kyangwali_News, #CBO_Impact, and #Safro_Roots; P4T distributed food assistance and sanitation supplies to 80+ most vulnerable households in Kyangwali. As we start 2021, it's probably the biggest year for us ever (content loading...). Generally, we have continued to champion sustainable livelihood approaches such as providing life skills in tailoring, carpentry, agribusiness, and bakery; uniting businesses to foster and skilled people to increase their economic opportunities and development capacities. We have the COMMITMENT, we have the VOLUNTEER Spirit, We have the feeling of HUMANITY, and we have the INTEGRITY to put all donations to its intended use and impact the communities.
