Continuous learning and institutional strengthening remain at the heart of Enabling Rural Opportunity Network - ERONet's mission to deliver sustainable, community-led development.

We were honored to participate in the Organizational Development and Capacity-Building Training organized by ADRA International Uganda under the Project, with support from Affairs Canada and Canada. The training brought together local civil society organizations from the East Acholi Sub-region to strengthen organizational systems, advocacy, and gender-responsive programming. Key areas including organizational development, advocacy planning, rights-based approaches, gender-transformative programming, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), prevention of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), leadership, governance, and partnership building.

The knowledge and practical insights gained will further strengthen ERONet's ability to:

Deliver high-quality, rights-based development programmes.
Advance gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
Build stronger partnerships with communities, government, and development actors.
Enhance institutional governance, accountability, and sustainability.

We extend our sincere appreciation to ADRA Uganda, ADRA Canada, and Global Affairs Canada for investing in the capacity of local organizations. Strong local institutions are essential for creating lasting and sustainable change.

Last week, the Enabling Rural Opportunity Network - ERONet participated in a Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) capacity strengthening training facilitated by the Children International, in partnership with , in Adjumani District, Uganda.

The training strengthened our knowledge in key areas, including:

• Child protection case management and referral pathways
• Risk identification, mitigation, and response
• Community-based child protection approaches
• Coordination, safeguarding, and accountability

For , this training is an important investment in improving outcomes for children and communities.

Working in Lamwo District, where child protection case management remains limited despite high vulnerability, we are now better equipped to support timely, context-responsive, and sustainable protection interventions.

We are grateful to Save the Children International and UNHCR for their support in strengthening local capacity and advancing locally led humanitarian action.

ERONet remains committed to working with government, UN agencies, NGOs, civil society, and development partners to protect children, strengthen resilience, and create lasting impact.

🚲✨ A New Journey Begins for Rural Girls in Lamwo District

Last week, ERONet officially launched the Buffalo Bicycle Project, a significant milestone in our efforts to address mobility poverty and support girls' education in rural communities.

For many girls, the distance to school is more than a daily walk—it is a barrier to learning, safety, wellbeing, and future opportunities. Through the provision of Buffalo Bicycles, girls can spend less time on the road and more time in the classroom.

This initiative is about more than transportation. It is about protecting girls, improving school attendance, strengthening mental wellbeing, and creating opportunities for every child to reach their full potential.

We are grateful to our partners, school leadership, parents, and community members who are working alongside us to ensure that no girl is left behind because of distance.

🚲✨ READY TO RIDE, READY TO LEARN! ✨📚

As we count down to the official launch of the Buffalo Bicycle Project this Friday, ERONet's Managing Director, Board Chairperson, and a student beneficiary took the bicycles for a test ride to confirm they are safe, reliable, and ready for the journey ahead. 🚴‍♀️✅

The bicycles will support students under the Agoro Child Sponsorship Program by helping them travel to and from school more safely, more quickly, and with greater confidence. 🎒🏫💡

Today's successful test ride marks another important step toward improving access to education for rural girls and reducing barriers caused by long distances to school. 🌍👧📖

🎉 The bicycles are assembled.
🔧 The quality has been checked.
🚲 The riders have tested them.
✅ Everything is ready for launch!

🚲✨ This week, successfully completed the training of local bicycle mechanics ahead of the upcoming Buffalo Bicycle Project launch under the Agoro Girls Pilot Project.

👧🏾📚 In many rural communities of Lamwo District, girls walk long distances to school every day, affecting attendance, safety, and academic performance. Through this initiative, ERONet is working to remove transportation barriers so that vulnerable girls can stay in school and build a better future.

🔧🚴‍♀️ Before bicycle distribution, trained mechanics are essential to keep the bicycles repaired, safe, and always in use. This training is an important step toward building a sustainable community support system for girls’ education.
