🌱⚽ Exciting progress at Kamaiba Soccer Academy's Eco Food Garden in Kyanya!

We have successfully constructed a shed net for our vegetable nursery and transplanted cabbages, sukuma wiki, dodo, tomatoes, and eggplants into our demonstration garden. The project is led by girls footballers who are currently out of school and are gaining practical skills in climate-smart agriculture, leadership, and agribusiness.

Already, 14 youth (9 girls and 5 boys) have collected seedlings from the nursery and established vegetable gardens at their homes, helping to improve household nutrition and resilience.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Girls For Climate Action for providing the start-up package that made this initiative possible. Together, we are demonstrating how sports and agribusiness can empower young people and create sustainable livelihoods.

We would also love to connect with organizations championing youth-led climate action, food security, and green livelihoods.

Impact Story: Restoring Hope Through Education and Community Support
Today, New Life Foundation for Community Rural Development (NeFCoRD) held an inspiring meeting with 25 young people (10 boys and 15 girls) participating in sports activities at Kamaiba Soccer Academy, who are also beneficiaries of the NeFCoRD poultry initiative.
During the meeting, the youth shared powerful testimonies about how NeFCoRD has supported their education through school fees assistance, bursaries, and scholastic materials funded through community-driven initiatives such as poultry.
One participant, Raphine, shared how she now feels confident about completing school because of the support she has received. Although she had secured a 100% sports bursary at Fr. Kanyonza Memorial School through NeFCoRD, she lacked a school uniform and feared she would miss the opportunity. NeFCoRD stepped in and provided the uniform she needed to begin her studies.
Another beneficiary, Kebirungi Patricia, emotionally shared her journey. Currently in her third semester with full support from NeFCoRD, Patricia reflected on the difficult period after losing her mother while in Senior Four in 2024.
“I didn’t know how I was going to enroll for my dream course after my mother died while in Senior Four in 2024. NeFCoRD has given me hope and restored happiness. Thanks to the Ruben Fernandez Association family for supporting NeFCoRD. Today I have met other people whose lives the poultry project is impacting.”
Her story is a reminder that education support is more than paying fees; it restores hope, dignity, belonging, and the courage to dream again.
At NeFCoRD, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to stay in school, grow in confidence, and pursue their future regardless of their background or circumstances.

Today, our team completed a practical capacity-building session focused on creating and managing effective social media platforms for our organization.
We were privileged to learn from staff of Foundation for Community Development and Empowerment (FCDE), who guided us through the essentials of building a strong digital presence, managing content, and using social media as a tool for visibility, engagement, and impact.
This session strengthened our understanding of how strategic online communication can amplify our work, connect us with partners and supporters, and tell our story more effectively to the communities we serve and the world beyond.
We appreciate FCDE for the knowledge shared and look forward to putting these skills into action as we grow our organization’s digital footprint.

Kamaiba Soccer Academy proudly celebrates that our girls are shining across all four semi-finalist teams in the Kasese District Secondary School Games — 14 players at Fr. Kanyonza, 5 at Sadex, 4 at Kasese Secondary, and 5 at St. Paul’s Vocational Secondary School. This is more than football; it is a powerful statement that when girls are given equal opportunity in sports, they lead, they inspire, and they transform our schools and communities. We call upon parents, leaders, and the entire community to come and witness these semi-final games, support our girls, and champion sports as a pathway to gender equality and empowerment for every child.
