My Name is Njovu D. A Katende, I am now 24 years of age. Who was living in Kampala on the streets of Kampala capital city of Uganda about 10 years ago as for now, Trying to survive by selling my crafts, I am a gifted craft maker of Jewellery …. ‘Gifted hands Uganda’ Was always my dream and maker of the day.
“I have been living on the streets of Kampala for many years. Like many Street Children through family circumstances I ended up living on the streets. I come from a rural village, My mother divorced my father, she remarried, our extended family grew larger, my step father told me I had to return to my bio father as he had no means of supporting me for schooling and basic needs. I was sent away from the family, I tried finding my biological father but everywhere I searched I couldn’t find him. I returned to my mother and step father pleading to stay, but my step father told me I could no longer live with them and turned me away.” That was the Cause as to i had end up my life out there in the streets.
“I had heard about many living a life on the streets of Kampala, I decided to make my way there, and start my own life. Those days of being on the streets were the scariest days of my life ! …. I had to struggle to find something to eat and to survive. My life was in constant danger, of mugging, beatings, starvation, no where to rest my head at night.
Eventually I was taken in by a charity. I thank God for their good works, they gave me a roof over my head and a place to call home.” Good Lord preserved me for a reason truly.
“Not long after moving into the charity’s home I received the sad news that my mother had died. I returned home to find my four brothers and sister destitute, my youngest brother had also died in my absence. My brothers and sister were all abandoned by our father/step father, our family are now all displaced, my sister and young brother still live in the village, through my crafts I try to help her through school, provide a roof over her head and food for both of them. It’s a meager existence but better than coming to live life on the streets.”
In life we face a number of challenges and tests that truly makes us tougher to life.
“Through my crafts which you see photos below, I try to empower others, to help my sister and brother through schooling, pay for my own schooling, I am presently in Form 1 at Secondary School, paying for my own school fees, uniform, books, examination fees etc.
My faith in God is all empowering, God has lead me to where I am today and will see me through all the days of my life. I trust in God totally.”
A blessed that i believe my life just has been a total blessing not by man.
I am also a gifted musician…… I love music passionately …. I have a music label Natto Eye written and performed by myself and others. Three songs are presently in the studio awaiting recording,
‘“Am working out a Charity Album under African Rising Son Musicals.
“Please look through my crafts, contact me via e-mail or Facebook regards prices and quantity. Please support us for a better life….. A tithe goes back to all my needy fellow street kids.” when in my boyish marketing strategies.
My urge for helping brothers who are living a hopeless life have been part of my growth too.
Help me support myself and dependants through school by purchasing some of my crafts and generating an income. May you be truly blessed by your actions. God bless you for your caring and compassionate hearts friend
