Happy new year everyone

If it wasn't for this stranger, the young man could have lost his life just like tens of thousands of who lose their lives annually through choking. Watch and learn, you could save a life.

Simple first aid tips that can save lives

"We believe that anyone
who needs first aid should receive it, but our latest research shows that's just not
happening.
"We can't rely on other people to have the skills – everyone should take the
responsibility to learn first aid themselves. Armed with this knowledge, we can all be the difference between a life lost and a life saved. Around 2,500 people die each year from a blocked airway, but if someone had known the recovery position, lives could have been saved." Sue Killen, chief executive of St John Ambulance.

Did you know that close to 60% of the deaths would be avoided if the entire population had basic first aid training?

Do you know that lack of first aid skills kills as many people are cancer?

Do you know that even some of the personnel in clinics and hospitals near you lack basic first aid training?

Last year I lost my brother because people around him couldn't realise he was choking, even when he was rushed to the nearest clinic the first thing they did was to put him on drip.
I know hundreds of thousands have died in such avoidable circumstances.
Last year the boat tragedy claimed many lives that could have been saved (some people lost their lives even when they were rescued from the lake still alive),
Accidents claim much more people than they should if the first people at the scene had basic first aid skills.

These skills may help you save a relative or save someone who will save your relative.

If we all had first aid training, close to 60% of the lives lost last year would be alive today. That could be that friend or relative that died in an accident, that drowned, that died of a heart attack being rushed to the hospital, that died in unclear circumstances or chocked just like my brother.

Acquire first aid training and save a life, get someone else to train and save another.

Let's all not just be literate but safety literate.
