BLOWING UP THE STATUS QUO: The Ugly Truth About our Uganda's Gospel Music Industry.
Removing the curtain to reveal some truths holding back our young, fresh talents. From industry gatekeepers to financial struggles then Selfishness of the Old Lions, am tackling the tough topics that need to be addressed.
1. Lack of Exposure
Young talents struggle to gain exposure, making it hard for them to reach a wider audience. As creatives we have failed to brand ourselves digitally. That’s even established Artists can’t attract sponsors on board because social media numbers are too small.
Yet at this stage social media would be something that can easily to introduce to a certain audience easily.
2. Industry Gatekeepers
Established industry players often control access to resources, limiting opportunities for new artists.
They have created Favoritism and industry politics and the fact that this generation is too lazy and full of emotions it pushes them away. They decide who play, who to call for concerts……..
3. Limited Radio & TV Airplay
Radio & TV stations favor established artists, leaving little room for new talents to get their music played. Yes I understand new artists have a lot of shallow music | little biblical content but still we have new artists with good music so why keep playing same old music 🤔
4. Social Media Saturation
Social Media especially tiktok has spoiled the industry, the moment a song trends on tiktok some artists think that’s the highest, ignoring the main stream media forgetting a lot of people ain’t on social media in Uganda.
5. Lack of Spiritual Convering | Mentorship
Insufficient guidance and mentorship hinder young Gospel artists' growth and development.
Many of the incoming artists don’t real have pastors or churches.
6. Financial Constraints
Limited financial resources restrict young gospel artists' ability to produce high-quality music and promote themselves. Few artists that have produced good music have totally failed to promote it and all they say the Holy Spirit will push the song.
7. Lack of Industry Support
The industry has failed to provide adequate support, resources for young talents to thrive.
Our pastors would be the real deal for us naye nabo batwesonyuwa. if you talk about Money you ain’t a born again 😅.
8. Alcohol, Sexual Immortalies
Eeh it’s so that we have ministers that have normalized the taking of alcohol, Ra**ng girls and they don’t want to be rebuked. abaweereza ba Mukama tulaga waa
9. Selfishness of Big Lions.
The old guns have totally refused to aceept that the time is up and the best they can do is mentor and support these new breeds. I have seen Nigerians post each-other songs naye wano olemwa. What happened to doing collabos ? And then you push them as your very own? Anyway let me keep quite
