As the scorching summer sun beat down on the deserted highway, Mark was cruising along in his old, trusty car. He had just set off on a long road trip to visit his family. The air conditioning struggled to keep up with the rising temperature, and beads of sweat formed on his forehead.

Suddenly, a warning light blinked on the dashboard. Mark's heart skipped a beat as he realized the temperature gauge was rapidly climbing into the red zone. Panic set in as he quickly pulled over to the side of the road, the engine emitting an unsettling hissing sound.

Opening the hood, Mark was met with a wave of intense heat. Smoke billowed from the engine, and he could see a stream of coolant spilling onto the road. The once reliable vehicle had succumbed to an abrupt overheat.

Mark knew he had to act swiftly. He grabbed his water bottle and carefully poured it into the radiator, hoping to cool the engine down. The hissing gradually subsided, but the damage was done.

Sweat trickling down his face, Mark realized that his journey had come to an unexpected halt. With a sigh of frustration, he reached for his phone to call for help. The scorching heat of the day seemed to mock his predicament as he waited for assistance to arrive, contemplating the unfortunate turn of events that had unfolded on that fateful summer afternoon.

The cost of manufacturing an electric vehicle industry
The costs of creating a new technology and making a reliable manufacturing process (automation=consistency) is a quagmire. Even for a small volume company, the cost of getting an assembly line put together that can put out enough vehicles to make them affordable for normal consumers can reach the billions. This is a big reason that automakers were bailed out from bankruptcy since losing their infrastructure could have wiped out the automotive industry for decades.

Would you change to electric now?
There are very good reasons that electric cars are starting to become major competitor among new cars being manufactured. The reason that these changes are happening so rapidly involves a number of factors, including:
* Awareness of global warming and greenhouse effect
* High population in urban areas, where EVs are extremely practical
* Better performance from electric motors, allowing manufacturers to fit smaller motors for the same power
* Better capacity in batteries
* Growing infrastructure for charging electric cars
* Hybrids and electric cars becoming trendy
* Pure electric cars have a dramatically simpler drivetrain
Many pursuits and inventions have never even made it to the public because of the costs involved. The dollar has held back the progress of electric cars as well. After the oil shortage in the 1970s, electric cars popped into the mainstream for a moment before being snuffed out by more oil being made available. It is safe to assume that if electric cars had been given a chance and had attracted a large number of consumers, then the technology would be very advanced today.

For most of us in Africa (Uganda) where electric vehicles (EVs) existed only in cartoons and science fiction movies, seeing one pull up alongside you at a the mall t is still an unusual thing. Still, every day there are more and more EVs coming up on the roads, and the infrastructure to support them isn’t yet growing just as rapidly as it should in Uganda thou the President is trying to encourage the citizens to adopt. But how will it all happen? How shall we have to have to do away with the current internal combustion engines and adopt to electric vehicles.
