Stop waiting for a "good job." It’s time to build your own table.

I learned this the hard way. At 13, I became my family’s breadwinner with nothing but a bicycle and a will to survive. Today’s market is tougher, but the solution is the same: Problem-solving.

In Uganda, any small business can succeed if it solves a real problem. But you need to be A-G-I-L-E:

🔹 Attitude 🔹 Grit 🔹 Innovation 🔹 Leadership 🔹 Ex*****on

Your Weekend Homework: Identify 3 problems in your neighborhood. Pick the biggest one.

Write down how you can fix it using what you already own. No excuses, just ex*****on.

What’s one problem in your community that needs solving? Let’s brainstorm in the comments.

My friends, I was sitting quietly this evening reflecting on the many seasons I have seen in my business journey. I’ve seen the "booms" where everything seems easy, and I’ve seen the "busts" where every day is a struggle.

In those tough times, I’ve seen many people tempted by "shortcuts." They look like a quick way to the top, but let me tell you from experience: a shortcut is often just a long way to a dead end.

If there is one thing I want our young African leaders to hold onto, it is this: Integrity is your ultimate competitive advantage.

At Simba Group, our path hasn't always been smooth. There were seasons when the numbers simply didn't add up and the weight of responsibility felt heavy. But we chose to play the "long game."

I always say that your reputation is like a bank account. You cannot expect to make a "withdrawal" of trust when things get difficult if you haven’t been making "deposits" of honesty, consistency, and hard work every single day.

To the young entrepreneurs and CEOs here: Please, don’t be in such a rush to "arrive" that you forget to build a foundation. If your foundation is weak, the weight of your success will eventually crush you.

Focus on solving real problems for our people.
Be disciplined with every shilling that passes through your hands.
Never, ever stop learning.

The world is looking at Africa right now with fresh eyes. Let’s give them a reason to trust us, not just because of our gold or our oil, but because of our excellence and our word.

I want to hear from you today, in your line of work, how do you stay true to your values when things get tough? Let’s share some encouragement in the comments.

Business isn't just about what you read in books, it’s about the practice of making decisions until it becomes a reflex.
Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Even the most successful entrepreneurs make bad moves; the secret is to learn the lesson and keep moving.

Share this with someone who is building their dream right now!

I’ve often said that your mindset is your greatest asset. We all face 'rainy days' in business, I’ve had my fair share. But what defines us isn't the storm; it’s how we choose to stand within it.

Take today to reset. If last week was difficult, don't carry that weight into Monday. Shake it off. Learn the lesson, but leave the bitterness behind. We go again tomorrow with a clean slate and a firm resolve.

Wishing you a peaceful Sunday with your loved ones.

"Who do you expect to give you capital?"

Many young entrepreneurs tell me, "Chairman, I have a great idea, but I’m just waiting for a bank loan or a government grant to start."

My message to you for 2026 is simple: Stop waiting. Start with the little you have.

If you cannot prove your credibility to your own family or siblings with 50,000 or 100,000 shillings, why would a stranger trust you with millions? Credibility isn't given; it is built through habits and consistency.

Entrepreneurship isn't in your genes, it’s in your drive. This year, don't look for excuses. Look for a way to start small and grow.

Happy New Year to you and your families! Let's build to last in 2026.

Reflection in the Midst of the Holidays

While the calendar says Tuesday and the holiday season is in full swing, I’m taking a moment today to reflect on the incredible strides we’ve made this year.

The 'holiday lull' is often the best time for high-level thinking. I’m currently looking at our goals for the coming year and feeling immense gratitude for the team that makes it all possible.

I hope you are all taking this time to disconnect and recharge. Innovation requires a rested mind. Enjoy the break, you’ve earned it!

As we approach the final days of this year, I know many of you are sitting with notebooks full of big dreams and business plans for 2026. But I also see a common hurdle: Hesitation. Many of you are waiting for that "perfect" moment to launch. You’re waiting for more capital, a better economy, or a clearer sign.

I want to share a lesson that has been my compass for decades:

Don't be scared to do business. You don't wait for all the traffic lights to be green before you start the journey. You start the journey and deal with what you've got.

If I had waited for every economic condition to be perfect or for every risk to be eliminated, Simba Group would still just be a dream on a piece of paper. The "perfect time" is a myth that keeps too many great entrepreneurs stuck at the starting line.

As we look toward 2026, my advice is simple: Don’t let the unknown paralyze you. You learn to drive by driving. You learn to navigate the potholes and the traffic while you are in motion.

My challenge to you as this year ends: Stop over-analyzing and start doing. Take that first step before the calendar even turns. Use what you have, where you are, right now. The lights will turn green as you move, not while you’re parked.

What is the one project or business you’ve been "waiting" to start? Let’s make a commitment to each other in the comments, what are you launching in 2026?

Let’s build together. God bless you all.

As we gather with loved ones and reflect on the year that has passed, I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

This holiday season reminds us of the importance of gratitude, compassion, and the power of coming together as a community. Throughout the past year, we have faced challenges and celebrated triumphs, and I am profoundly grateful for the dedication and resilience of everyone who has been part of our journey.

Christmas is a time for hope and renewal. It's a moment to appreciate the blessings we have and to look forward with optimism to the opportunities that lie ahead. As we celebrate, let us carry the spirit of goodwill, generosity, and unity into the coming year.

I encourage you to spend quality time with family and friends, to give back to those in need, and to embrace the true meaning of this festive season.

From my family to yours, I wish you peace, joy, and abundant blessings this Christmas and throughout the coming year.

As I reflect on John C. Maxwell's timeless wisdom, I'm reminded of the three pillars that define true leadership - especially in our African context where resilience and vision are paramount.

KNOWS THE WAY - In our journey at Simba Group , this means understanding not just the destination, but the terrain. In Uganda's dynamic business landscape, a leader must see beyond the obvious, anticipate challenges, and chart a course that respects our unique environment while reaching for global standards.

GOES THE WAY - Leadership isn't about giving orders from the corner office. It's about walking the path yourself. When we faced infrastructure challenges or regulatory hurdles, I didn't send others - I went first. True leadership means being in the trenches, making the tough calls, and demonstrating that the vision is worth fighting for.

SHOWS THE WAY - Perhaps most importantly, leadership is about lighting the path for others. In Uganda, where mentorship and community matter deeply, a Chairman's role extends beyond strategy to inspiration. It's about creating opportunities, sharing knowledge, and empowering the next generation of leaders to follow - and exceed - our footsteps.

This quote resonates deeply because it captures what I've learned over decades in business: leadership is a journey, not a position. It's about knowing where you're going, having the courage to walk there yourself, and leaving a trail that others can follow with confidence.

What's your perspective on leadership? Share your thoughts below!

23/12/2025

I've witnessed this truth throughout my career: the most effective leaders are those who remain humble students of their craft.

In our boardrooms and executive meetings, we often discuss strategy, market positioning, and growth metrics. But the foundation of sustainable success lies in our willingness to learn – from our teams, from our failures, and from the ever-changing world around us.

True leadership isn't about having all the answers; it's about asking the right questions and being open to new perspectives. When we stop learning, we stop leading.

As you navigate your professional journey today, I encourage you to embrace curiosity. Seek knowledge not just in success, but in setbacks. Learn not just from books, but from conversations with those who challenge your thinking.

Remember: the moment you believe you've "arrived" is the moment you begin to decline. Let's commit to lifelong learning as the cornerstone of our leadership philosophy.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. What's one area where you're committed to growing as a leader this year?

Reputation is your greatest asset and kindness is its cornerstone.

I often tell my mentees: Your skills might get you into the room, but it is your character that keeps you there.

In the fast-paced world of business, it’s so easy to get caught up in KPIs, targets, and milestones. But we must never forget the human element of leadership.

We are all fighting battles that the world knows nothing about. As you strive for your goals today, I encourage you to take a moment and look around.

A simple word of encouragement or a small gesture of support can be the turning point for a "struggling soul." It’s a powerful reminder that they are not alone and that they have a community standing behind them.

Let’s make it our mission to leave every person we encounter better than we found them.

I would love to hear from you today: What is one small act of kindness someone showed you that changed your day or even your career path?
