🌱 RUFORUM , under its Climate Resilient Agri-Food Systems Transformation Program Phase 1 (CRAFT Phase 1) - a six year program (2024 - 2030) supported by the & implemented with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture & Food Security in South Sudan 🇸🇸, conducted a series of capacity-building trainings in collaboration with the University of Juba, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) & Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science & Technology.

The trainings were hosted at the University of Juba and Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science & Technology.

The trainings targeted university students & staff from both institutions, as well as Director Generals from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, with the aim of strengthening technical, analytical, and institutional capacity in agriculture & related sectors.

The trainings covered a wide range of thematic areas, including Climate Action, Resource Mobilisation for Director Generals, Agricultural and Fisheries Extension Services, Crop Yield Data Estimates, Yield Harvest, Prediction Models, Computer Literacy, Financial & Accounting Software, and GIS & Remote Sensing.

These trainings were designed to advance, digital skills, data-driven decision-making, and innovation to accelerate agricultural transformation & food security in 🇸🇸

Expanding partnerships! 🤝

A delegation from Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 led by Prof. Fanuel Tagwira the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, paid a courtesy visit to RUFORUM as a long-standing alumnus and partner of RUFORUM.

During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on RUFORUM’s decade-long journey and its new strategic vision, looking ahead. The Zimbabwean team also shared the country’s education agenda and highlighted areas of convergence through which collaboration with RUFORUM could be advanced.

The delegation comprised of:

1. Prof. Kuzvinetsa Peter Dzvimbo – Chief Executive Officer of the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE)
2. Prof. Regis Chireshe – Chief Director, Quality Assurance at Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE)
3. Prof. Norman Takaidza – Chief Director at the Ministry of Higher Educatio Ministry of Higher and Tertiary ducation, Innovation, Science and Technology Development (MHTEISTD)
4. Mr. Tinashe Zishiri – Registrar at Midlands State University (MSU)
5. Mr. Biggy Ngwenya – Registrar at Nationa lUniversity of Science and Technology (NUST)
6. Dr. Tavengwa Bunhu – Deputy Dean and Senior Lecturer, School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Chinhoyi University of Science and Technology (CUT)
