At Raremark Foundation, we define a hero by the service they give and the hope they inspire.

Whether in the community, the hospital, or supporting from the sidelines, if your actions move us closer to a future where no Warrior walks in pain and every child has the chance to be born free from Sickle Cell Disease, you are a hero.

Today, we look back at the history of
the Martyrs and remember that
sacrifice shapes the future.

We see that same unyielding spirit of sacrifice
reflected in the daily lives of our SCD
community, in caregivers who stay at
bedsides past exhaustion, nurses who
run on hours of little rest, and
advocates who continue to ensure
that awareness around never
goes silent.

Your sacrifices are building systems
that endure.

Not every day does the Sickle Cell community witness a moment like this.

The launch of Uganda’s first Hydroxyurea manufacturing plant yesterday at Quality Chemicals Limited by the Ministry of Health- Uganda is a major milestone in improving access to treatment for Sickle Cell Warriors. For many, treatment has been financially overwhelming and difficult to access, local production now brings hope for affordability and availability.

Diana, a Warrior, shared her lived experience during the event:
“Living with SCD has never been easy. There were days filled with pain and endless hospital visits. I’m grateful to be a part of the Warriors’ community at Raremark Foundation that has empowered me to use my story to educate others.”

Her story deeply moved the audience and earned a standing ovation, highlighting that behind every policy discussion are real people and real journeys.

She also shared the impact of awareness campaigns:
“I’ve seen remarkable results through campaigns like Raremark’s many of my family didn’t know their genotypes until I started to speak up.”

“With the right support, it’s possible to live a full life. I stand as a 26-year-old woman with a job, living independently, and still choosing to dream beyond my condition.”

A powerful reminder that progress is possible when advocacy, awareness, and policy come together.
