FINANCING FILM PROJECTS🇺🇬🎬🎬🍿🥤🍿

I’m sure every deal is some how different. Studio financing and accounting are pretty much opaque and you would have to be part of the deal to truly know what the details are. For example, the remake of The Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan. Disney owned the rights and was the distributor while Sony Studios made the film. I have no way of knowing whether Sony was just renting their stages and equipment or if they had some equity position in the film.

An independent producer can have a deal with a studio and in that case the studio will usually finance and distribute the movie.

Child’s Play 2 had been at United Artists but was put into turn-around due to United’s financial troubles. Universal came in and obtained the project as a negative pickup. In other words, Universal paid United it’s out of pocket expenses and financed the movie which was produced as an independent film. For the financing, Universal received interest. Once the picture was completed, Universal bought the negative for a set fee. I imagine that Universal wholly owned the picture and United got nothing other than the turnaround fee.
So executive producer got only 5% of the interest.
Uganda has a totally different story in the film business,We need markets like THE FILM AND CULTURE MARKET to put the cards right .

The Workshop was about Directing and Script writing for Film - it was such a success.

We had wonderful Skilling moments with Mr Siya Sityana a facilitator from South Africa who was so engaging and passionate about film.

In the power of collaboration and networking we are joining hands with Film Club Uganda together with Uganda National Cultural Centre to bring to you a workshop on DIRECTING and script writing for Film this TUESDAY 7th/03/2023 at National Theatre green room exactly 2pm .
