JONGLEI GOVERNMENT PARTNERS WITH UNOCHA AND NGOS TO ACCELERATE RELIEF EFFORTS
The Governor of Jonglei State, H.E Dr Riek G*i Kok, has affirmed the state governmentโs commitment to collaborating with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and other humanitarian response agencies, Finn Church Aid and NGOs Forum to ensure expedited assistance to distressed individuals within the state.
Gov. Riek G*i convened a strategic meeting with representatives from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), Finn Church Aid, and the South Sudan NGOs Forum to reinforce humanitarian access and food delivery efforts across Jonglei State.
The delegation was led by Mr. David Carden, Head of UNOCHA South Sudan, whose leadership and commitment were warmly appreciated by the Governor.
โWe will make our position clear: food must reach the people who need it most,โ said Governor Kok. โI appeal to our partners to ensure that aid distribution is equitable and inclusive of all impacted areas.โ
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Carden emphasized the importance of collaboration between humanitarian actors and the State Government.
โOur partners are essential to this mission. With the support of the State Government, we can strengthen our collaboration and ensure continued delivery of food and services to the people of Jonglei. This partnership is vital for improving lives and restoring hope,โ he stated.
He, however, applauded the new administration of Gov. Dr. Riek G*i Kok for prioritising the humanitarian needs of the citizens, especially as the state is faced with problems that need serious intervention.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches vulnerable communities, especially in hard-to-access areas affected by flooding and displacement.

๐๐๐๐, ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐ โ President Salva Kiir Mayardit has tasked the newly appointed Western Equatoria State leaders to return home and work diligently to restore stability, social harmony, and peace in the strife-torn state.
โSpeaking during the official swearing-in ceremony at State House in Juba, President Kiir emphasised the critical responsibility placed on the new officials to address the mounting insecurity that has plagued Western Equatoria over the past few years.
โThe incoming Western Equatoria Governor, James Altaib Berapai, and his Deputy Governor, Justin Joseph Marona, took the oath of office alongside national officials such as the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, James Mawich Makuach, and the incoming Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Yien Chan Ruei.
โPresident Kiir also directed Minister Mawich to prioritise the provision of clean and safe drinking water across the country.
โThe President urged the appointed officials to work in harmony, stressing that the only way the government can meet the expectations of the people is through cooperation and commitment.
โThe appointments come at a time when Western Equatoria has been experiencing escalating communal violence, displacement, and other security challenges.
The new leaders are expected to act swiftly to address these urgent issues.

๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐ โ President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday met with a high-level delegation from the African Union Peace and Security Council to discuss the ongoing implementation of the Revitalised Peace Agreement, a key framework aimed at ending years of conflict in South Sudan.
During the meeting, President Kiir expressed his unwavering dedication to ensuring the agreementโs full implementation and pledged to continue working closely with the African Union to secure peace and stability across the country.
South Sudanโs Minister of Foreign Affairs, Monday Semaya Kumba, reaffirmed the Presidentโs commitment and highlighted the importance of sustained cooperation between Juba and the AU in addressing peace and security challenges.
The visiting delegation was led by Dr. Mohammed Khaled, Algeriaโs Ambassador to Ethiopia and current Chair of the AU Peace and Security Council.
