On 11th May 2026, SDA conducted a menstrual health awareness activity in Mtwara region. The aim was to educate young people and the community about menstrual hygiene and reduce stigma related to menstruation.

During the session, participants were taught the importance of personal hygiene, proper use of sanitary materials, and how to wear and use sanitary pads correctly. They were also given a chance to ask questions and share their experiences.

In addition, participants performed a short drama about menstruation to raise awareness and encourage open discussion in the community.

The activity was successful and well received. SDA remains committed to continuing such programs to promote health, confidence, and awareness.

Sports Development Aid (SDA) joined the global community in celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, alongside the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and World AIDS Day.

The event included training children, youth, and persons with disabilities on climate change, planting over 500 trees, and cleaning beaches, markets, and streets. The day was also made lively with sportive activities such as badminton and blanket ball games.

Activities were conducted across all seven councils implementing the Empowered Girls Speak Out III project and Education Support project with collaboration from Tanzania Safety Alliance and Mtwara Economic Rights For Disable NGOs in Mtwara Municipal and Mtwara District Council.

Together, we are building a community where every voice is included and every person has the opportunity to thrive.
