April has been a beautiful month at Tengeru 🤍

Even with the rain, the kids continue to show up - ready to learn, ready to grow, and ready for the meals many of them rely on each day.

Consistency like this doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because of support, community, and people who care enough to show up for them.

It stopped me in my tracks because Easter looks very different there.

For many of these children, things we consider normal here — chocolate, Easter baskets, new clothes, little celebrations — simply don’t exist in their world.

What they do need is something much more basic: food.

Right now we’re running an Easter chocolate fundraiser.
And the beautiful part is that when you buy chocolate for your own kids’ Easter baskets here… the money goes directly toward feeding these kids in Tanzania.

Your chocolate becomes real meals for real children.

Did someone say watermelon?!

Watermelon is our most loved fruit by the kiddos at school - can’t you tell by the excitement on their faces?! It’s the little things that truly make the world of difference in these children’s lives 🫶✨

✨ Pure joy. This is why we do what we do. Every smile you help create matters. 💛

These are some of the foods the kids eat each week.

Every day starts with porridge, then lunch there’s a big meal of either rice & beans, makande (mah-kan-day) which is a maize & bean stew or beef pilau.

Having meat on the menu is a very big deal and something we’re VERY PROUD OF!
Local schools and primary schools would never include meat due to the cost.

The kids also have a fruit snack in the afternoon of either watermelon, papaya, pineapple or bananas.

ITS THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR, and our biggest fundraiser too! This holiday season we are providing the families of our students with Christmas Packages that will have meals, housewares, crafts, and much more! For only $50, you can sponsor a family this holiday season and provide them with the most important gift of all, the comfort of meals to share with each other, activities to enjoy together, and security of having all the things we take for granted every day. For every family sponsored you will receive a thank you card from our family ceremony at the end of the school year. You can also sponsor a family in someone’s name and we will send them a thank you card that a family has been sponsored in their name!
