7:00 AM – Variably cloudy skies with widespread light to moderate showers and isolated thunderstorms favoring Trinidad’s southern half are set to continue into the early afternoon.

Activity flared up early this morning, mainly affecting southern Trinidad. Similar conditions are expected to persist into the early afternoon (12:00 PM to 2:00 PM), with isolated pockets of heavy rainfall and isolated thunderstorms possible across the southern half of the island.

Elsewhere, variably cloudy skies with additional isolated showers are affecting Tobago and northern Trinidad. Isolated activity over these two regions is also expected to persist mainly into the early afternoon.

Gusty winds and heavy rainfall may accompany localized intense activity, with street or flash flooding possible in vulnerable areas.

On August 29, 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries officially commissioned a new Excavator for use by the Engineering Division in critical drainage works. Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Senator the Honourable Ravi Ratiram, together with the Director of Engineering, oversaw the commissioning at Jerningham Junction Extension Road, where the machine’s first job was clearing a channel to help alleviate flooding and safeguard surrounding farmland. Minister Ratiram also took the opportunity to engage directly with farmers in the area, listening to their concerns and reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to providing real solutions to flood-related challenges. The new excavator will be deployed to various sites across Trinidad, as part of MALF’s ongoing efforts to improve drainage infrastructure, protect livelihoods, and build greater climate resilience.
