We continue with good news from the RiskMan team!!!

Prof. Dr. Adaleta Durmić-Pašić, from the University of Sarajevo-Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, was elected to the Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group (AHTEG) for Risk Assessment under the Biosafety Protocol to the Convention on Biological Diversity (Cartagena Protocol).

The role of this AHTEG will be to develop additional voluntary guidance materials for conducting case-by-case risk assessments of living modified organisms containing engineered gene drives, in
accordance with Annex III to the Protocol, with a specific focus on engineered gene drive mosquitos, and prepare a list of prioritized topics on which further guidance materials on risk assessment may be needed according to the criteria in decision CP-9/13, annex I, based on information submitted by Parties, as per paragraph 8 of decision CP-10/10.

We wish Prof. dr. Durmić-Pašić much success in the work of AHTEG!!!

U okviru ERASMUS+ project “Educational Capacity Strengthening for Risk Management of Non-native Aquatic Species in Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro) - RiskMan” uspješno su ralizirane sve nastavne aktivnosti korištenjem savremene opreme za terenska istraživanja i laboratorijske analize.

Within the framework of the ERASMUS+ project "Educational Capacity Strengthening for Risk Management of Non-native Aquatic Species in Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro)“ – RiskMan all teaching activities were successfully implemented using modern equipment for field research and laboratory analysis. After successfully implemented field activities in October on the Drina River, students of the II cycle of studies at the Department of Biology performed morphometric analyzes of collected samples of fish fauna using a digital ichthyometer consisting of a DCS5 measuring platform and a DCS5 micro control box connected to measuring sensors.

A Policy Framework for the New Occupation “Risk Manager” was developed within the WP5 of the RiskMan Project. For more details on the Policy Framework visit the page

Educational Capacity Strengthening for Risk Managment of Non-native Aquatic Species in Western Balkans - RiskMan - Policy framework for the new occupation “Risk Manager” Risk Management Definition: Risk management is the practice where it primarily is concerned about the loss exposures due to hazard risks. The management of the risks excludes from its remits all exposure attributed to the risks.

On Tuesday, October 11th 2022, prof.dr. Belma Kalamujić Stroil from the Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology held a RiskMan dissemination class at the Faculty of Science, University of Sarajevo for 33 students of the fourth year of undergraduate studies (study programs Genetics and Microbiology). The aim of the class was to present and promote three new Master courses designed with the ERASMUS+ Capacity Building project RiskMan. Using the computer equipment obtained through the RiskMan project, prof.dr. Belma Kalamujić Stroil demonstrated how bioinformatic databases and analytical tools can be employed in early detection of non-native aquatic species.
