There are some places…
They look tiny on the map, yet take up so much space in your heart.
Paxos and its little sister right next to it, Antipaxos, are exactly like that.
Paxos: I don’t know if I should call it the definition of calm… or the deepest form of peace.
One of the simplest and most serene corners of the Ionian Islands, Paxos isn’t a place you go with big expectations.
You go thinking, “I just need to get away for a bit”… and somehow, you end up loving it even more.
Gaios, the heart of the island, is small enough to explore on foot.
But even in that tiny harbor, life slows down.
You grab a coffee, sit down… and suddenly realize there’s absolutely nothing you need to rush for.
And that’s exactly where Paxos gets you.
The villages of Longos and Lakka are a whole different story.
If you have time, they make you think, “I’m so glad I came.”
If you don’t… they leave you with, “I wish I had stayed a little longer.”
🚤 Antipaxos (yes, where the series Maestro was filmed) — unreal in its beauty
Reached by small boats departing from Paxos, Antipaxos is… hard to put into words.
The color of the sea is such a vivid turquoise that you start questioning:
“Does this color actually exist in nature?”
Most famous beaches:
Voutoumi Beach
Vrika Beach
🍽️ Food & Drinks in Paxos
One of the best surprises of the island is the food.
You know how you wonder, “Can everywhere really be this good?”
Well… it actually is.
☕ Breakfast: Small cafés by the harbor in Gaios.
Coffee + croissant + the sound of the sea = the perfect start
🥗 Lunch:
Vasilis
Taverna Pounentes
The seafood is so fresh… it genuinely feels like it just came out of the water.
🍷 Dinner & tavernas:
Erimitis (you’re invited for sunset ☺️)
Manesko
To Steki Tou Pappou
🍸 Bars & nightlife:
Taxidi Bar
Taka Taka
At some point, you find yourself saying:
“This is not a place for diets… and it shouldn’t be.” 😄
🏝️ Best beaches
👉 Paxos:

In a remote corner of Bolu in Turkey lies HİNDİBA, Coşkun Bey’s small ecological paradise…
Marketing, promotion, artificiality—these are concepts that simply don’t exist in Coşkun Bey’s notebook. He opened his home to a small number of people back in 2007, and even today it remains grounded in the same essence. Perhaps this is because the effort he puts into this place soothes his soul…
is surrounded by a stream, poplars, firs, and pines. With its rustic rooms built in traditional wood and stone, and its restaurant offering regional flavors overlooking a magnificent natural panorama, it’s truly special. Over the years, it has lost nothing of its culinary care, its environmentally conscious approach, or the comfort of its rooms. Its guests are mostly travelers who want to be immersed in nature, couples who prefer unpretentious natural beauty, and families with children seeking a wholesome, natural lifestyle.
At breakfast, they serve wonderful sourdough village bread, real butter, their own homemade Mengen cheese, and sugar-free marmalades. The milk is fresh cow’s milk. The eggs come from a neighbor in the village. The restaurant’s daily menu features olive oil-based appetizers and fresh fish. In the kitchen, Chef Emre from Mengen also presents regional dishes from Bolu. Has anyone here not yet tasted cornelian cherry tarhana?
Despite the challenges of nature, this place reminds you that living in harmony with nature is always possible… They are incredibly hospitable, never falling short in generosity or kindness. For reservations made by phone, they offer special room rates—including breakfast and dinner.
Phone: +90 530 824 97 91. A note for the curious: (They host various camps and workshops every month.

Nearby: Just 50 km from the hotel lies the tropical oasis of Yedigöller. Also worth visiting is Devrek, a district of Zonguldak about half an hour away, famous for its unique handmade walking sticks still crafted there today…
REMINDER: Be sure to bring a good pair of hiking shoes, because in Hindiba’s private forest grove, furry friends will be waiting every morning to join you on a walk!

If you prefer quieter spots, Piso Aliki provides a tranquil atmosphere with striking blue waters, while Petri Beach remains a hidden gem with minimal crowds and excellent swimming conditions. , on the other hand, is a popular choice thanks to its soft sand, organized services, and vibrant yet clean setting. Palm Beach is another great option, especially for those looking to combine swimming with a seaside lunch at a traditional taverna.
Beyond the coastline, the inland villages are equally captivating. Prodromos charms visitors with its bougainvillea-lined streets and postcard-like scenery. Lefkes, perched on a hillside, offers stone-paved paths, whitewashed houses, and sweeping mountain views.
For dining, near Naousa is a standout choice, especially at sunset, serving fresh seafood alongside one of the island’s best views. Yemeni, also in Naousa, is a reliable favorite for authentic Greek cuisine and warm hospitality.
Punda Coast Beach Club provides a more modern beach experience with a relaxed vibe, comfortable sunbeds, and calm waters. Meanwhile, Piso Livadi, a picturesque fishing village, is perfect for a leisurely seaside lunch while watching the boats drift by.

Wonderland: BOLU!
When the cold of winter arrives, we leave home in Istanbul and set off for the place where snow looks its best—Bolu in Turkiye. And here we are in Mengen, at Coşkun’s Hindiba Nature House, run by someone we’ve known for 20 years!
is a magnificent world nestled within endless pine forests—touched by human hands yet left unspoiled. The host, Coşkun, left city life years ago and, with great aesthetic sensitivity, created an incredibly charming, warm, and heartfelt place here. The land itself is spectacular: walking trails, a vegetable garden, a stream, and massive trees. You can wander for hours without ever stepping on concrete. One is swept up in boundless joy here… and children are left utterly bewildered by the freedom!
One of the best features: all rooms are equipped with underfloor heating, in harmony with the spirit of nature. Some rooms also have fireplaces or stoves. Another highlight is the kitchen! You may go in “just for breakfast” and find it hard to leave even by dinner. Winter vegetables from the abundant garden, fresh herbs, heirloom seeds, village eggs, fresh buffalo milk, honey-peanut spreads, sugar-free marmalades, sourdough bread baked in a stone oven, and olive-oil mezes—everything is simply wonderful!
Hindiba is an “alternative” tourism venture at heart. With years of experience, Coşkun, Arzu, and Yasemin truly know how to please their guests. Its distance from Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, and Eskişehir makes it an ideal escape. A must-stop during the mid-term holiday!
They also welcome guests who love traveling with their furry friends. For reservations, be sure to check out the special offers for readers and followers of the Small Hotels website: 10% off for one-night stays, 15% off for two nights, and 20% off for three nights. Phone number: +90 530 824 97 91.

Ephesus Hotel, steeped in memories of past eras, is one of the hotels where we feel the most at peace. Every year when we stay, we can’t help saying “What a beautiful place we’re in!” when we wake up to the view and the sounds in the morning.
We think some people truly have what’s called a “green finger,” and Mr. Mustafa is definitely one of them. The hotel’s garden and vegetable patch—along with the front, back, and surroundings—are filled with flowers and trees bursting with incredible vitality. You can tell they’ve been grown with love.
Located in Kirazlı Village (Aydın), has long been a place whispered about from person to person thanks to its architecture, garden, vegetable patch, authentic rooms, and Mr. Mustafa’s sincere hospitality.
Why go? Maybe for the view of the hills that turn green after October; maybe to visit Turkey’s first railway (İzmir–Aydın) and the Railway Museum in Çamlık, just 10 minutes from the hotel; maybe to enjoy a romantic getaway with a loved one in a room with a fireplace; maybe to get a little distance from the soul-wearying noise of fast-paced city life; or maybe to slowly and leisurely explore the Ancient City of Ephesus, the House of the Virgin Mary, the Ephesus Museum, and the İsa Bey Mosque. After all, it’s only 1 hour from İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport.
For reservations, you can contact Mr. Mustafa directly: +90 534 206 05 81.
Efes Selçuk, at other times, is one of the Aegean’s most special towns thanks to its history. Şirince is still “charming.” Among our classic restaurant recommendations in the area is Antepli Ramazan Usta’s Kebab House. Whether with ayran or any drink you like, their kebabs are delicious. They also serve a wonderful eggplant dish for those who eat plant-based. Tables spill out onto the street—so if you’re looking for atmosphere, this is the place for you.
Pizza Kallinios, which opened this year, is near the İsa Bey Mosque. Both its café and pizzas—with high-quality ingredients and the flavor of a stone oven—as well as its location, make you truly feel that you’re in a historic city. Don’t miss it!

Places to Visit · Accommodation · Food & Drink in Corfu Island in Greece | What Is December Like?
Going to Corfu in winter… Yes, it’s a bit bold, but you know what? The island is calm, misty, slightly melancholic in winter—straight out of a movie scene. I stayed for three days, but let me tell you this: I could pack my suitcase again right now…☺️
🎒 What to Do in Corfu in 3 Days?
Day 1 – Old Town exploration
Get lost in the cobblestone streets, lean against the pastel buildings and sip your coffee, then climb up to the Old Fortress: the view is unbelievable!
Day 2 – Palaiokastritsa & Monastery
You won’t be swimming, but those misty coves in winter… Oh! Hiking, visiting the monastery, photo breaks: a soul-soothing route.
Day 3 – Achilleion Palace
The gardens and statues of the palace facing the deep blue sea… The kind that makes you say: “I could walk down these marble stairs every day.”

• To Dimarchio: Relaxed, local, and delicious Mediterranean cuisine awaits.

🏝️ Greece by Island Groups: So, Which Region Is for You? 🇬🇷

Here, history and sea intertwine.
You might find yourself wandering through a medieval castle, then swimming in a turquoise bay ten minutes later.

⛵ Saronic Islands:
Famous for their closeness to Athens: Hydra, Poros, .
Legendary for weekend getaways!
Sometimes escaping the city is just a ferry ride away.
🌊 Sporades & North Aegean:
Lesser-known, less-traveled…
Skiathos, Skopelos, Lesvos, …

A bit of peace, a bit of sea breeze, and a touch of salt in the air.

Some love to dance, some love silence.
