✨ BOOK REVIEW ✨
This book really said: “What if witches, ancient prophecies, feminist spirituality, hidden treasure, Indigenous wisdom, religious conspiracies, trauma healing, and mountain survival all happened at once?” And honestly?? I was LOCKED IN.
The Secret of Hunter Mountain follows two cousins, Gerlinde and Sarah, who get pulled into a centuries-old prophecy tied to an ancient Goddess religion that the Church desperately wants buried.
So naturally the vibes are immediately: moon rituals, visions, spirit animals, creepy religious men, hidden caves, and “we absolutely should not be climbing this mountain but here we are anyway.”
Gerlinde is carrying the weight of destiny, trauma, and spiritual responsibility while Sarah slowly goes from “this sounds fake” to “oh no the prophecy might actually be real.”
Their relationship felt so emotional and grounded compared to all the massive conspiracy-theory energy happening around them.
Like yes the fate of hidden history is important, but also these women are just trying to survive physically and emotionally.
And the atmosphere?? INSANE. Forest rituals under the moonlight. Herbal festivals. Ancient symbols hidden in caves. Secret scrolls.
Mount Rainier survival scenes that had me sweating through the pages.
But what really stayed with me was how much this story focuses on reclaiming power after trauma.
Beneath all the thriller and mythology elements, this is a story about healing, identity, survival, and women refusing to stay silent anymore. It’s messy, spiritual, emotional, and very unapologetically loud about its themes.
Also the ending basically screamed “pack your bags bestie, we’re going to Istanbul next” and now I need Book 3 immediately because this trilogy is only getting more chaotic from here.
QOTD: If you found proof that history had been hiding the truth for centuries, would you expose it or protect it?
I want to thank the book influencer shewhoreads books for this great review

Trigger warnings
At the recent reading of my novel "The Secret of Hunter Mountain" the sequel to The Witches of Riegersburg " I let the audience know about some of the more graphic & troubling scenes in the novel.
Later we had a discussion around what is a witch & how they are portrayed in society.
How during the burning times it was mainly women who were killed.
Actual healers hid their practice.

Find your path...
I found mine first in music which shaped a
over 50 years of my life ... practicing, studying music & performing it
Music saved my life...
I had several terrible experiences to overcome.
Then I discovered the Goddess & witchcraft which gave me
the inner strength and fortitude to fight back. Goddess being the guiding light in my life..
I always read...loved reading...being transported into far away places ...and now I'm writing books and stories about themes that matter to me... overcoming trauma, witchcraft, Goddess worship with women centered plots.
Lastly, the circles of women, great friends & my family has been immensely
helpful.
No matter how difficult, find what moves you inside and don't give up...
The first novel in the trilogy.
As I write the third book of this series, I would like to
introduce the first one again. "The Witches of Riegersburg"
