When Guns N’ Roses wasn’t that famous yet, an old homeless man allegedly approached young Axl Rose and said:

“You know where you are? You’re in the jungle, baby. You’re gonna die.”

Before Guns N’ Roses became one of the biggest rock bands in the world, they were basically surviving day by day in dirty apartments around Los Angeles. Sometimes there wasn’t enough money for food, but somehow there was always enough for cheap Night Train wine.

That bottle became part of their everyday life. Long nights, sweaty bars, sleeping on floors, carrying amps through alleyways, chasing gigs that barely paid anything… Night Train came out of that exact chaos. The song sounds wild because their lives actually were wild at the time.

What makes it interesting is that this wasn’t a band writing songs about becoming rockstars someday. They were already living the mess, the exhaustion, the alcohol, and the desperation while playing tiny clubs to people who had no idea they were watching a future legendary band.

Before the fame, before the money, before the stadium tours… this was the soundtrack of five guys trying to survive in L.A. 🎸🍷
