🌱 Fresh Harvest, Faster Growth! 🌱
Using Cocopeat organic fertilizer, members of the HAMAIFOR Cooperative successfully cultivated healthy and fast-growing kangkung (water spinach). 🌿🥥
By transforming coconut husks into Cocopeat, the community discovered an eco-friendly and effective way to improve vegetable production. The kangkung seeds sprouted in only 3 days and were ready for harvest in just 17 days, much faster compared to traditional methods.
✨ Benefits of using Cocopeat:
✔ Faster seed germination
✔ Healthy plant growth
✔ Quicker harvest time
✔ Additional family income opportunities
✔ Reduces waste by reusing coconut husks
This initiative shows how simple agricultural innovation can support food security, sustainable farming, and community livelihoods. 🌍💚
This activity was implemented by ADRA Timor-Leste, with support from the International Labour Organization (ILO) and funding from the European Union (EU). It demonstrates how working together can turn local resources into opportunities, strengthen agriculture, and support rural communities across Timor-Leste.

🌱 Cross Visit to Maliana – Exposure Learning for Stronger Cooperatives
Last week, ADRA Timor-Leste through the SHAPE Project organized a Cross Visit and Exposure Learning activity in Maliana for targeted cooperatives from Viqueque.
The visit aimed to strengthen value chain inclusivity, efficiency, quality, and sustainability through direct learning from successful cooperatives.
At Lanamona Cooperative, participants gained practical knowledge on bookkeeping, leadership, governance, SOPs, resource management, and conflict resolution—seeing how strong systems support effective cooperative management.
At Asosiasaun Agrikultura CAAKUB, participants learned how value is added through market access strategies, product labeling, packaging, and quality standards, helping cooperatives understand how to improve product competitiveness in the market.
The day concluded with reflection and action planning, where participants shared key lessons learned and identified steps to apply new knowledge in their own cooperatives.
A powerful learning experience—turning exposure into action for stronger, more sustainable cooperatives. 🤝🌱
The project was funded by the Government of New Zealand through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), in partnership with ADRA New Zealand, and implemented by ADRA Timor-Leste.

🌾 Empowering Farmers Through Learning and Sharing in Lautem!
Farmers’ Field Day (FFD) continues to create a vibrant space for learning, collaboration, and growth among farmer groups in Lautem Municipality. It brings together farmers, extension workers, and technical staff in a practical environment where knowledge is shared openly and solutions are built collectively.
Farmers’ Field Day is more than just a gathering it is a hands-on learning platform where farmers share real experiences from their fields, observe demonstration plots, and discuss improved farming practices. From land preparation and planting techniques to crop management, pest control, and harvesting, farmers exchange practical knowledge that can be directly applied to improve their own production.
This approach strengthens not only individual skills but also the connection between farmers. It promotes teamwork, encourages active participation, and builds confidence within farmer groups to work together, support one another, and solve challenges collectively.
FFD also plays a key role in introducing new and innovative agricultural practices. By seeing results in the field and learning from peers, farmers are more motivated to adopt better techniques that increase both the quality and quantity of their crops.
🌱 Learning together. Growing together. Building stronger farming communities in Lautem. 🌱
