The event brought together local authorities, traditional leaders, and members of the Uma Lulik Nabobo and community, to watch the documentary. The active participation of the community is essential to ensure that the history, cultural values, and heritage of the Uma Lulik Nabobo are accurately documented and passed on to future generations.

Together, we preserve our culture, strengthen our identity, and keep Timor-Leste's cultural heritage alive.

Planting Seeds for Community-Led Evaluation in Timor-Leste

As part of the Seed Grants Initiative, Timor Aid and Pandanus Evaluation successfully conducted their first Participatory Evaluation Workshop with 50 weavers from the Oe-cussi Municipality, Timor-Leste, on 25 July 2026.

This inspiring workshop marks the beginning of a long-term partnership that embraces participatory and culturally responsive evaluation. By placing Indigenous communities at the heart of the evaluation process, the initiative strengthens local ownership, values Indigenous knowledge, and supports learning that leads to meaningful and sustainable change.

Congratulations to Timor Aid, Pandanus Evaluation, and the participating weavers on this important milestone. We look forward to following the journey and celebrating the impact of this collaboration.

Today, students from Institute of Business (Faculty of Economics) and University of Dili (Faculty of Engineering), visited the Documentary Video Exhibition featuring Uma Lulik Na Bobo, Bahadanak, Uma Dato Babulu, and Uma Lulik Marobo, at the Office Timor Aid, Bairos dos Grilos, Rua de Nu laran, Dili.

During the visit, participants had the opportunity to view a collection of photographs, watch documentary videos about these four traditional sacred houses, and complete a questionnaire prepared by the Timor Aid team to evaluate their experience and understanding of Timor-Leste’s cultural heritage.

Today, Timor Aid organized a Exhibition Video Documentary of Uma Lulik Na Bobo, Bahadanak, Uma Dato Babulu, and Uma Lulik Marobo.

The exhibition was officially opened by His Excellency the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Dr. José Ramos-Horta, and attended by the Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, ambassadors accredited to Timor-Leste, and other partners. The event took place at the Presidential Palace in Aitarak, Dili.

On the same day, students from the Institute of Business (IOB) visited the exhibition. They had the opportunity to explore the photo displays and watch documentary videos showcasing the four Uma Lulik (Sacred Houses). During the visit, the Timor Aid team also distributed questionnaires to the students, inviting them to share their feedback and reflections on the exhibition and the cultural heritage presented.
