Ubon Hash House Harriers

Last Saturday 20 Hashers set off on Run 189 in the forest at D**g Fa Huan Botanical Gardens. The interesting walk of 7.2 km was on bike tracks, forest trails and a few sections of paved road. The rain gods smiled on us, and despite the forecast, we managed to stay dry. Thanks to the Harriettes for the Hash Snacks at Beer stop 1. At the final Circle we named
Michael Parker "Bald Headed Bastard, " and Mark Pottinger " Porta Pottie." We welcomed Virgin Hasher "Jead"to our ranks, and hope to see her again. Thanks to "Some Ting Wrong" for the photos and MLS for coharing the run. After the Circle we returned to Wrong Way for post Hash food, more drinks and frivolity. Last Saturday 20 hardy Hashers braved the heat for UH3 Run 188. We started in a dry pond in Na Dun Noi and then walked village tracks, through a temple, back roads, with cows, buffalo and numerous dogs, forest and jungle tracks, finally across rice paddies returning to our start point. A total of 6km, with 2 well deserved beer stops thrown in. Back at our starting point we had a lively circle. It was great to welcome 4 virgin hashers. Nick Hazel from Ubon, his Sister in Law Sasi from UK, Bob Bayless and partner Emily from Warin Chamrap. We were excited to welcome back to Ubon, BJ Surprise aka Nam Jensen and husband Soren, and their friend Kenneth. I was able to name a few Hashers. After recently returning to Hashing Trond Hansen was named "Better late than Never" seeing as he first hashed 11 years ago and neverhad a Hash name. Paul Sanders was name"The Colonel" with wife Lee named, "Finger Licking Good." Nok Montanut was named "Angry Bird" as her Mother says she has a bad temper. "The Colonel" celebrated his 58th Birthday with us. Our youngest Hasher Me You bravely walked the first leg with Grandfather "Global Walker" before riding in the Beer Wagon. It was great to welcome back "Noelsinsideher" aka Prim who walked her first time since her knee surgery. Thanks to all who braved the heat for making it a great day. Last Saturday UH3 Run 187 was held in the Na Dun Noi area. Although numbers were down we still enjoyed a good day. The run was a mix of on and off road, through a Wat and a lot of bush tracks. We were able to welcome 3 Virgins, Lorrie from England, who is now an Ubon resident, Steven from Sweden and his partner Drung from Ubon. After the circle we adjourned to Wrong Way for after Hash festivities. Thanks to Some Ting Wrong for the photos. A reminder that next run will be on Saturday April 4th. Last Saturday Run 186 of UH3 was held in the Khu Dua area along the banks of the Mun River, and through the jungle and the village that borders the floating restaurant area. Numbers were down as more than 10 regulars were away in Vietnam, USA, Laos or involved with school activities. We still had 20 Hashers, and were pleased to welcome back Beer and Mackenzie Van Den Drift from Germany. Despite the heat a great day was had by all. Thanks to Danablu aka Finn Lyngholm for haring. A reminder that next Hash run 187 will be back to the first Saturday in March. March 7th, in 3 weeks time. Last Saturday 30 Hashers set off from LamaSay Restaurant and Bar near Ubon Zoo for UH3 Run 185. Virgin Hares "Ready Willing and Able" and son Kaden set an interesting and challenging trail near Ubon Zoo, and in the nearby bush. There were 2 challenging down and uphill sections that required teamwork, to get everyone safely down and up the slippery sandy slopes. It was great to welcome back Mike Saunders and Nit visiting from Australia and Trond Antonesen aka Viking Ghettomaster, who rode shotgun on the Beer wagon with MLS, so yours truly could enjoy the trail. We also welcomed Rick Curver for his Virgin Hash. Our youngest Hasher MeYou less than 4 years old, completed the whole trail, assisted by grandpa Global Walker and grandma, Chickens Feet. Well done young man. The very lively Circle was held at LamaSay with 4 of their young staff acting as Beer Maidens. We made them drink Down Downs and gave them 100 baht each for their assistance. The owner very generously supplied a complimentary drink for all Hashers to welcome the New Year. Thank you so much. Many stayed on to eat and drink and listen to the entertainment, whilst others returned to Wrong Way to party on. Next Hash run 186 was due on Saturday February 7th, however with the National Election due on Sunday 8th, there will be a total alcohol ban from 6pm on the Saturday. Thanks to the 43 Hashers, and visitors from overseas, who turned up for the Christmas Bar Crawl last night. It was great to see Flash Git, Ann and George Unsworth from England. Viking Ghettomaster escaped from the war zone at Nam Yuen, Stephen Hannant back from Australia, Leif back from Finland, and Mark Richards son and girlfriend visiting from Australia also joined us. We were also able to welcome a Virgin Hasher, Joe from Sisaket, who will be a regular UH3 participant in the new year. Some of us finished up at Wrong Way around midnight. For those that ordered the new UH3 Shirt, they will be available at Wrong Way tonight after 7.30, and tomorrow before the Pub Crawl. Anyone wanting to order one we have all sizes from XS to 4XL.

A change to Saturdays Bar Crawl. After consultation with a few senior Hashers, as we are a walking club, it was decided that we will walk. From Wrong Way it is about 1.4 km to first bar, then 1km to second bar, 1km back to Wrong Way. Food is available at both stops, and at Wrong Way before departure. If anyone wishes to stay at second bar, that is your choice. Taxis will be provided back to Wrong Way if necessary. Timetable is, leave Wrong Way at 7pm, leave first stop at 9pm. Leave second stop at 10.40 to be back at Wrong Way by 11pm.Hash will pay for first beer or Spy or Soft drink at Wrong Way and any taxis to return. If you intend to attend could you please indicate on the Hash Event. Please wear a Hash shirt and Festive headwear if you have it. Looking forward to an enjoyable evening. The new UH3 shirt was well received. Our original order grew fom 25 to 30 and eventually 37 shirts ordered which all sold out. I will place another order this week to be available for the Christmas Bar Crawl December 20th. I already have 5 orders. We need 10 more before the supplier will make them. If you want to order contact me personally, by Friday 12th with your preferred size. Cost will be 200 baht for sizes XS, S, M and L. Add 10 baht for each size increase up to 250 baht for 5XL.
