TYOY and the Alliance Française de Bangkok present The Poetry of Boundless, a concert that transcends the boundaries of sound and art.

Artist Profile:

Ittikorn Tuchmalee (b. 2000) is a cellist from Hua Hin, a tranquil seaside town in Thailand. He pursued his passion for music at the Conservatory of Music, Rangsit University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Classical Cello. During his academic years, Ittikorn developed a strong foundation in both solo and ensemble performance, becoming well-versed in the technical and expressive aspects of the cello.

Throughout his career, Ittikorn has gained extensive experience playing with several prestigious orchestras, including Promusica Junior, the Silpakorn Summer Music School, Siam Sinfonietta, and the Rangsit University Symphony Orchestra. His diverse performance background has allowed him to collaborate with a wide range of musicians and explore a variety of musical genres. Currently, Ittikorn is a member of TYOY, where he continues to expand his artistic horizons and contribute to the contemporary music scene.

Artist profile:

Dirk Johan Stromberg is an improviser and instrument maker whose work explores people’s musical languages through live performance. His performances center on custom-built electroacoustic instruments, such as the Fryprone and Phallophone, which embody his philosophy of hyper-instrumentalism—where tactile interfaces and dynamic sonic possibilities extend improvisational language.

Rooted in free improvisation, Dirk’s music balances structure and spontaneity, embracing raw energy, nuance, and deep listening. His practice is informed by jazz, experimental composition, and electroacoustic traditions, drawing influence from figures like Evan Parker, Anthony Braxton, and Derek Bailey. As a maker, he develops instruments that prioritize agility, versatility, and physicality, allowing for intricate sonic explorations that challenge conventional instrumental roles.

Dirk’s work spans continents, from telematic performances to multi-channel immersive experiences. His collaborations include musicians, dancers, and interdisciplinary artists, reflecting his belief in the fluidity of artistic boundaries. Whether performing solo or in ensemble settings, he seeks to create instruments and performances that push the limits of improvisation while remaining deeply personal.
Currently based in Singapore, Dirk is a Senior Lecturer at LASALLE College of the Arts, where he continues to develop new tools and methodologies for improvisation and live performance.

Artist profile:

Minami Takei 武井南, a rising young artist from Yamanashi, Japan, is a remarkable drummer who skillfully blends classical precision with contemporary exploration. She graduated with a scholarship from Showa Conservatory of Music (2020) and honed her skills under the tutelage of masters Toshiaki Ishiuchi and Atsushi Sugawara.

Her technical excellence was recognized globally at the 17th PAS Italian International Percussion Competition, where she secured second place in the timpani category. Professionally, she served as the principal timpanist for the Teatro Giglio Showa Orchestra (2020–2023), performing for premier opera and ballet productions, and expanded her international reach through the 2024 Asian Youth Orchestra tour.

Beyond the orchestral stage, Takei is a versatile performer active in jazz, improvisation, and cross-genre ensembles across Japan and Thailand. A dedicated educator, she also teaches percussion and piano to children internationally, committed to fostering the next generation of talent while constantly pushing the boundaries of the arts.

We are pleased to introduce our guest artist: Denny J. Euprasert

Biographical Sketch of Denny J. Euprasert

Born in Bangkok, Thailand, in 1969, Denny Euprasert spent part of his childhood in Los Angeles before returning to Thailand in 1973. He studied at Bangkok Christian College (1975–1986), where he joined the marching band, studied at Yamaha Music School, and performed organ music in the school chapel. In 1986, he became an exchange student at Interlake High School in Bellevue, Washington, studying under band director Leo Dodd and performing in jazz ensemble, orchestra, choir, symphonic band, and musical theater.

From 1988 to 1992, Denny studied jazz piano performance at Cornish College of the Arts, focusing on composition with mentors including Randy Halberstadt, Dave Peck, James Knapp, and Ralph Towner. After returning to Thailand, he performed in jazz clubs and joined Mahidol University’s music faculty in 1995, the same year he released his first commercial recording, *La-Beng*.

Denny earned a Master’s degree in jazz piano and music education from the University of North Texas (1996–1998), then returned to Mahidol University, serving as Director of Jazz Studies and Associate Dean while establishing Thailand’s first undergraduate jazz studies program. From 2001 to 2004, he completed a Doctorate in Music Theory and Composition at the University of Northern Colorado and received the 2003 Dale Dykins Composition Award.

Since 2004, Denny has served as Dean of the Conservatory of Music at Rangsit University, founding Thailand’s first Master’s program in jazz studies. His honors include the 2008 Kom Chad Luek Award and the 2009 Silpathorn Contemporary Artist Award from Thailand’s Ministry of Culture.
