My first tattoo of 2026 was for Rangat, my lovely Indian client.

On his right leg is the title of the song “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheatus. While it’s a fun and upbeat song, its inspiration comes from the songwriter’s teenage experiences with bullying and feeling isolated. Rangat shared with me that he connects deeply with this song, as it reflects his own childhood experience of being bullied at school because of his ethnicity. This story also inspired the tattoo on his other leg.

The word RACISM is shown on a broken chain, symbolising the act of breaking free from racial discrimination. It represents freedom from prejudice and the belief that everyone deserves dignity and equality, without being held back by bias.

We spent time working together, and I could truly feel how polite and gentle Rangat is as a person.
