The second phase of the 𝐀𝐏𝐀𝐂 𝐀𝐈 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐉𝐚𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 successfully brought together 60 executive-level officials, senior technical representatives, technical builders, and regional partners from more than 13 countries across Asia and the Pacific.

💡 Building on the momentum of Phase 1, participants moved beyond learning about AI to actively developing, testing, and refining AI-enabled workflows that support disaster preparedness, emergency response, reporting, coordination, information management, and data analysis.

🤝 Through a hands-on 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝. 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧. approach, participants worked alongside AI experts and technical facilitators to transform operational challenges into practical solutions that can strengthen decision-making, improve coordination, and enhance service delivery for communities affected by disasters.

🚀 The workshop demonstrated how AI can help disaster management organizations move from ideas to action and unlock new opportunities for innovation and impact.

The AI Skills Jam was organized by the OpenAI Academy, in partnership with the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center - ADPC, DataKind, and the Gates Foundation.

At the 𝐀𝐈 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐉𝐚𝐦, disaster management professionals didn't just learn about AI skills - they were building solutions with it.

Working side-by-side with AI experts and technical builders, participants of the 𝐀𝐈 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐉𝐚𝐦 transformed real operational challenges into practical AI solutions. They designed workflows, developed prototypes, tested new tools, and explored how AI can strengthen disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.

During the second phase of the AI Skills Jam, 𝐌𝐫. The significance of the AI Skills Jam was further underscored by the distinguished leaders who participated in the event. The chief guest, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐁𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐮𝐥, 𝐀𝐃𝐏𝐂 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫, highlighted the growing importance of AI in strengthening disaster resilience. Dr. Rattakul also serves as Member Secretary of the Thai Disaster Preparedness Foundation (TDPF) and Chairman of the Academic Sub-committee on Disaster Prevention, Relief, and Climate Change Impact Reduction under Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation.

❗️Building on the successful Phase 1 - AI Skills Jam held on 30 March 2026, Phase 2 will move beyond introductory AI exposure 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬-𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠. Participants will explore how practical and responsible AI-enabled workflows can support institutional needs in disaster preparedness, response, reporting, coordination, and information management.

The Phase 2 is designed to translate the insights and priorities identified during Phase 1 into practical action by testing and refining AI-enabled workflows, while providing participants with direct experience in using and customizing AI-supported solutions for information management, reporting, and data analysis. It will also support the 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐬 through collaborative activities and strengthen day-to-day AI capabilities through targeted learning sessions.

The two-day workshop follows a flexible 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝. 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧. 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥, enabling participants to engage based on their interests, technical background, and institutional priorities.

The event will bring together approximately 60 executive-level officials, senior technical representatives, technical builders, regional partners, and interested funders from 13 countries across South and Southeast Asia.

Following the workshop, the strongest solution packages will be further refined, and selected outputs will be developed into reusable Digital Public Good-oriented materials for wider adaptation by disaster management institutions.
