Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has approved the proposal by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to extend the period of stay to 45 days for tourists from countries/territories entitled for visa exemption, and to 30 days for those eligible for a Visa on Arrival (VOA).

These new periods of stay will be in effect from 1 October, 2022, until 31 March, 2023.

The duration of visa on arrival/visa exemptions may be increased to a maximum of 45 days. Currently, tourists are granted 30 day visa exemptions, and others are granted visas on arrival with a maximum stay of 15 days.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will propose the idea to the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) at the next CCSA meeting on August 19.

The proposed extension would extend both visa exemptions on arrival and visas on arrival (VOA) to 45 days. Should approval be granted, the new policy would be effective from the date of approval until December 31, 2022.

Airbnb and the Tourism Authority of Thailand work together to promote remote work 21/07/2022

Airbnb recently announced a new initiative called “Live and Work Anywhere”. This initiative is aimed at helping promote the ability work remotely. As part of the program, Airbnb announced 20 destinations, including Thailand.

Each of these destinations will be given a special page on its website, known as ‘hubs of remote work’.

It was also announced that Airbnb will partner with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to create a “Thailand Hub” page. This page will highlight the long-term accommodation options, entry requirements for Thailand, and visa types available.

To boost arrivals and increase spending by international visitors, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has proposed plans to the government relating to the suspension all visa fees till the end of 2022.

The current price is 1,000 baht for people applying for a visa before arrival and 2,000 baht for those countries, that are required to pay a vis fee, applying for a visa on arrival.

Thailand has formally launched the Long Term Resident Visa (LTR), which is due to begin in September 2022.

The LTR is designed to attract foreigners with “high capability or potential” and allows holders to remain in Thailand for up to ten years as well as other incentives which aren't available to other visa types.

Thailands CCSA has announced the complete cancellation of the Thailand Pass, from July 1st.

Travellers of any nationality will no longer be required to obtain a Thailand Pass in order to enter Thailand, beginning July 1. Additionally, travellers will no longer be required to purchase Covid-19 insurance.

From July 1, travellers will be required to show proof of vaccination history to enter Thailand. Unvaccinated travellers must provide a negative “Professional” ATK test result.

If travellers cannot satisfy the above criteria, they can still enter Thailand but might be subject to an on-arrival ATK test.

Thailand’s cabinet has approved the plans to reduce the long-term resident (LTR) visa fee to 50,000 baht, allowing non-Thais (including up to 4 of the applicants family member) to stay in Thailand for up to 10 years.

The government hopes to attract foreigners with high economic status or who have knowledge and expertise to help boost the country’s economy and investment prospects.

Individuals who may apply for the visa include the following:

1. High-net-worth global citizens;
2. Foreign retirees;
3. Those looking to work in Thailand;
4. Those with special skills.

The new price will come into effect 90 days after the official announcement in the Royal Gazette.

From the 1st of June, the following requirements must be satisfied in order to enter Thailand:

All travellers will need to register on Thailand Pass (https://tp.consular.go.th/) and provide the following information:

1. COVID-19 vaccination certificates or COVID-19 test results;
2. A minimum of 10,000 USD (or equivalent) of travel insurance which includes medical expenses related to COVID-19;
3. Copy of a valid passport.

The Thailand Pass QR code will now also be generated IMMEDITELY after registration.
