Yesterday’s destructive hailstorm affected parts of the Shiselweni, Manzini, and Hhohho regions, causing significant damage to homes, schools, and livelihoods, with 57 households and an estimated 285 people impacted. While no lives were reported lost, the storm left a trail of destruction including damaged roofs, destroyed crops, and disruptions to key school infrastructure, placing affected families under considerable strain.

The National Disaster Risk Management Authority, working in collaboration with partners, has initiated emergency response interventions and continues with rapid assessments to determine the full extent of the impact and guide further assistance. Communities are advised to remain vigilant, report any further damage to local authorities, and take precautionary measures to secure property and ensure safety as recovery efforts continue.
