Continued Update: Sports Administration Course

As promised, we are back with more insights from the Sports Administration Course attended by Coach Philz and Coach Barkley!

Some of the key focus points were on Good Governance in Sports. This is a powerful pillar for building sustainable, athlete-centered programs. Key takeaways included:

1. The importance of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in managing sports organizations
2. How effective governance boosts trust, attracts investment, and drives long-term development
3. The role of strategic resource allocation in budgeting, reporting, and performance management
4. Why marketing and operations must work hand-in-hand to deliver value to athletes and communities

Update #2 from the month of October:

We are proud to share that Coach Philile “Philz” and Coach Anele “Barkely” were recently invited to attend the prestigious Sports Administration Level 2 Course hosted by the National Olympic Office (EOCGA), powered by Olympic Solidarity.

During the first weekend of the course, our coaches were immersed in powerful sessions on Project Management Principles, learning how to apply strategic planning and ex*****on across various sporting codes. Another highlight was an in-depth exploration of Change Management. Understanding its critical role in driving growth, adaptability, and long-term impact in sports organizations.

Through group work and presentations, Coach Philz and Barkely exchanged ideas with fellow participants, gaining insights that will not only elevate One Drive, but also contribute meaningfully to the broader goals of the national basketball federation.

As the coaches work to submit their level 2 projects month end, we are excited about what is ahead because when our coaches grow, our players and programs thrive!

As promised, here’s the first of our updates.

We are proud to share that Coach Philile a.k.a "Philz" and Coach Anele a.k.a "Barkely" recently participated in the FIBA WABC Level 1 Coaching Course, a milestone that marks serious growth for the programme.

This was not just any course. It was led by Coach Lazare Adingono, a certified FIBA instructor who has coached one of Africa’s finest teams, Pedro De Luanda and now coach to Premeiro de Agosto of the Angolan League. The experience was both mentally and physically demanding. Everything was done by the book, literally, and we embraced every challenge with full commitment.

Being selected to participate was an honour, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity. The course sharpened our coaching skills, deepened our understanding of the game, and reinforced our commitment to excellence at One Drive and Eswatini Basketball at large.

Thank you to the Basketball Association of Eswatini, the National Olympic Committee (Olympic Solidarity), Coach Lazare Adingono, and FIBA for making this possible. We hope your investment in local development will bear the sweetest fruit.

Our Co-Founders/Coaches have been on the move, sharpening their skills through Coaching Courses, diving deep into Sports Administration, and yes… celebrating a special birthday milestone Growth isn’t just happening on the court but it’s happening in the classroom, in leadership, and in life.
