Breaking: Nyame Steps Down from Taraba North Senate Contest

Former Governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, has withdrawn from the race for the Taraba North Senatorial seat, bringing an abrupt end to his return to electoral politics.

The decision comes shortly after his re-entry into the All Progressives Congress (APC), less than two weeks after he left for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The swift sequence of moves has raised questions about the underlying political calculations.

It will be recalled that a High Court sitting in Jalingo had earlier disqualified him from contesting for any political office, a development that appears to have shaped the present outcome.

The statement issued by the "APC Christian Youths, Adamawa State Chapter", appears to dismiss legitimate concerns being raised by many citizens regarding political inclusion and fairness in the state. It is misleading to suggest that calls for a Christian governor are driven by selfish interests or divisive intentions. In a democratic society, every group has the constitutional right to peacefully advocate for equitable representation and participation in leadership.

Politics should not be reduced to a mere game of numbers where the majority alone determines the direction of leadership. True democracy is founded on justice, equity, fairness, and the protection of the interests of all groups within society. As a diverse state, Adamawa’s stability and unity are best preserved when every community feels respected, represented, and included in the political process.

The call for a Christian governor is neither an attack on any religion nor an attempt to create division. It is a legitimate democratic aspiration pursued through peaceful and constitutional means. Citizens expressing such views deserve engagement and understanding, not subtle attempts to portray their concerns as unnecessary or harmful to the unity of the state.

Adamawa State has enjoyed years of peaceful coexistence because its people have embraced mutual respect and fairness. Preserving that harmony requires open and honest conversations about inclusion, representation, and equal political opportunity. Genuine unity can only thrive where all voices are acknowledged and treated with respect within the democratic space.

A mother’s love is one of the most powerful forces in life, and for little Alfredo, it became his lifeline.

Born prematurely in Madagascar with a cleft condition, Alfredo faced an uncertain future. His mother, Doxie, worried constantly about his survival as feeding him became a daily struggle.

Yet, she refused to surrender to despair. Determined to find help, she continued searching until she finally brought him to Mercy Ship Africa , where Alfredo received the life-changing surgery he desperately needed.

Today, Alfredo is healthy, growing, and full of life, all because of a mother who never stopped believing in and fighting for her son 💙

Here’s to mothers everywhere whose love, strength, and sacrifice continue to change lives every single day.
