President Salva Kiir Mayardit is expected to visit Aweil tomorrow.

The State Minister of Information and Communication, Gabriel Deng Yel, confirmed to Media that the President will arrive in Aweil on Tuesday.

During his visit, President Kiir is expected to address the public at Aweil Freedom Square.

Minister Gabriel called on the people of Northern Bahr el Ghazal to line the road from Peth Lou to Aweil Town to give the President a warm welcome.

The visit is expected to bring together residents from across the state to listen to the President's address and take part in the welcoming activities.

Court Opens Proceedings Against Police Officer Over Alleged Assault

A court in Juba has opened proceedings against Police Captain Richard Ruai Kuol over an alleged assault on a rickshaw rider captured on video last month.

The hearing, chaired by Major General Raymond Legge, did not proceed this morning in juba after both the accused and the investigating officer failed to appear in court.

Police spokesperson Major General Justin Daniel said the court has ordered the two to be formally summoned. The case has been adjourned until June 11, 2026, when hearings are expected to resume.

The video of the alleged assault sparked public outrage and renewed calls for accountability within the security services.

KNOW HOW Aweil East defeated Gogrial East County 6:0 in today's friendly match in Buluk.

The scoring in the 6–0 victory started with Aweil East's legendary player, Aluk Akech, who made it 1–0 in the 39th minute of the first half.

He is the same Toni Aluk who delivered a stunning free kick that knocked out Tonj East in the semi-final of the previous BCL in 2023, helping Aweil East qualify for the final in Juba.

That free kick is still painful for the Tonj East County football team to remember. The team is reportedly still training hard in an attempt to avenge one of the most painful defeats in the history of the Bahr el Ghazal football tournament.
