Jubafest Initiative

Have you heard about the global movement yet? Our own Amanda Sieradzki wrote about Creative Generation which has resources for local artists to participate, and share ways their own practice has evolved in response to social distancing.

Also mentioned in the story is the Association of Teaching Artists, the Arts Education Partnership, Jubafest Initiative, The Art Effect and Art Corps.

The Jubafest Initiative is a cultural organization operating in Juba, South Sudan. It’s a cultural

South Sudan’s population is one of the most diverse in Africa with around seventy ethnic groups. This richness in culture makes collaboration a potential joy but also a major challenge. With all this diversity there has been no platform that brings into light the richness and beauty of South Sudanese cultures and peoples

Therefore our project looks forward to bring into light south Sudan culture

Message of sympathy to Hardlife Avenue Stars

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. We may not understand why he left this earth so soon, or why he left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that he died, but that he lived. And that his life gave us memories too beautiful to forget

I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make.

Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.

May you both Nicky Prince Ov Hard life and Linus de Genius remain strong to continue making music that will impact people's lives in South Sudan 🇸🇸 and beyond

Rest in Peace Mantani Ov Hardlyfe 😭😭

The joins the people of Ethiopia as they celebrate Irreecha Festival

This festival brings people closer to each other and make social bonds. Locals dress in traditional costumes and observe Irreecha with dancing, singing, and gathering together with relatives.

It is when different religion followers gather together to give thanks for their creator. A big part of the celebration involves going to the lakes around Oromia region and placing cut grass and flowers in the water to give thanks to Waaqa (the creator) for good fortune and prosperity over the coming year.

We are very much excited for the upcoming Copyright Bill. and in the Republic of South Sudan have for so long been waiting for this bill, they do not have control over their product due to absence of this bill.

This bill will ensure that creatives get additional motivation for their artistic endevours through a market based reward, offering protection and stability and allows artists to make art for a living. This won't happen overnight, we need measures to be put in place, training and capacity building of artists and cultural professionals to enhance understanding on copyright.

We are very thrilled to be in the middle of this industry shaping initiatives

The Jubafest Initiative is glad for being a member of the South Sudan National team under the for the Quadrennial Periodic Reporting (QPR) of UNESCO 2005 Convention for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.

It has been an amazing moment for various stakeholders that came together to learn more on the 2005 Convention and examine the Country's achievements and Challanges faced by & in South Sudan in the past four years. Among the various obstacles and challanges, the team recognized the need for policies that govern and guide Arts and Cultural sector in South Sudan.

Our Story

Building a good image of a city or state so as to differentiate it and to make it unique in tourists’ minds is a vital condition nowadays, in a world of global competition. This image may be created by taking advantage of local culture and values’ promotion or by organizing festivals and special events”
In order to bring this theory to effect, McGilMo Company limited in collaboration with Event Management Companies and Juba City Council will organize for the first time the Juba City Carnival (Juba Fest)to show the riches of south Sudanese cultures and embrace unity among the south Sudanese people through; Traditional performance, Craft, Street performance, Circus, Spoken word, Visual arts, Traditional and Modern south Sudanese Music etc
