Angel Films South Sudan strongly condemns the continued practice of child marriage in the Republic of South Sudan.

Child marriage is a violation of children’s rights and a serious threat to the future of our nation.

It deprives young girls of their education, exposes them to health risks, limits their economic opportunities, and subjects them to emotional and physical harm.

According to reports by UNICEF, South Sudan remains among the countries with the highest rates of child marriage in the world. Despite the provisions of the Child Act (2008), which defines a child as any person under the age of 18, the practice continues in many communities due to poverty, cultural pressures, and lack of enforcement.

As filmmakers and storytellers, Angel Films South Sudan believes that media has the power to change mindsets and inspire communities.

We are committed to producing films and awareness campaigns that highlight the harmful impact of child marriage and promote education, protection, and empowerment for girls.

Uproar after man posts uncle with new wife on Valentine’s Day

A Facebook post by user AG Nyoka has sparked public outrage after he shared a photo of a man with a visibly teenage girl, claiming she is his uncle’s new wife.

“Congratulations to Uncle Sultan Ajith Mabior for the new wife and happiest Valentine’s Day to them,” Nyoka wrote in the now-viral post.

The image quickly goes viral across social media, drawing mixed reactions. Many users condemned the marriage, arguing the girl appears too young and warning that underage marriage is a crime.

“This is so embarrassing. Marrying underage is a crime,” one commenter wrote.

Others defended the marriage, saying it reflects cultural traditions. “Congratulations to my Uncle Sultan Ajithdit Mabior Deng Ador… Welcome koko to Pan-Adoor,” another user posted.

The law sets 18 as the legal age for marriage, although child marriage remains common in some communities due to cultural practices and economic pressures. Authorities have not publicly commented on the viral post.
