Chapter Four: No Escape from Him
Deline turned slowly.
âThis is⊠my room?â
Michael stepped in behind her.
âNo.â
Her stomach dropped. His gaze locked onto hers.
âItâs ours.â
The word hit harder than anything else he had said.
Ours.
âNo,â she said quickly, shaking her head as she took a step back. âNo, IâI didnât agree to that.â
His expression didnât change.
âYou signed yourself into my ownership.â
âI didnât sign that.â
A flicker of something dangerous passed through his eyes.
âAnd yet,â he said quietly, stepping closer, âyouâre standing in my space⊠arguing like you have a choice.â
Her back hit the edge of the bed. Deline froze. Too close. He was too close.
Her pulse spiraled out of control as his presence closed in around her.
âIâm notâŠâ She swallowed hard. âIâm not something you can just take.â
Silence. Heavy. Charged. Then...His hand came up.
Deline flinched.
But instead of grabbing her... He braced his palm against the headboard, caging her in without touching her.
âYouâre right.â
Her breath caught.
[Wait⊠what?]
âYouâre not something,â he continued, his voice low, controlled.
His gaze dropped briefly to her lips. Then back to her eyes.
âYouâre someone.â
The words should have comforted her. They didnât. Because of what came next.
âMy someone.â
Her heart slammed violently against her ribs.
âNo,â she whispered, shaking her head. âYou donât get to decide that.â
His jaw tightened slightly. For the first time, something close to irritation surfaced.
âYou still think this is a negotiation.â
âI think this is wrong.â She. replied quickly.
The words hung in the air between them. Deline expected anger. Expected punishment. Instead... Something darker flickered in his expression. Something⊠intrigued.
âWrong?â he repeated softly. His fingers finally moved, brushing lightly against her wrist again.
That same electric shock shot through her.
Deline gasped.
âThen why,â he murmured, watching her closely, âdoes your body react like it knows exactly where it belongs?â
Her breath hitched.
âNo...this isnât...â
But she couldnât finish. Because he was right. Her pulse. Her skin.
The heat pooling low in her stomach... None of it made sense. None of it was hers to control. And that terrified her.
âGet some rest.â
The sudden shift in his tone caught her off guard.
Deline blinked.
âWhat?â
Michael stepped back.
Just like that. The space between them returned, but the tension didnât fade.
It lingered. Thick. Unfinished.
âYouâll need it,â he added, turning toward the door.
Her confusion quickly turned into suspicion.
âYouâre just⊠leaving?â
He paused. Then glanced back at her. A faint, knowing look in his eyes.
âFor now.â
Her stomach twisted.
âFor now?â
His gaze darkened slightly.
âAs much as my wolf would disagree⊠I donât take what hasnât fully submitted.â
The words sent a chill down her spine. Not reassurance. Not safety. Just⊠delay. A promise of something inevitable. Deline wrapped her arms around herself.
âIâm not going to submit to you.â
A bold statement. Maybe a stupid one. But she needed to say it.
Michael studied her for a long moment.
Then... A slow, dangerous smirk touched his lips.
âWeâll see.â
And then he was gone. The door shut behind him with a soft click. Deline stood there for several seconds.
Frozen. Listening. Waiting. But he didnât come back. The silence pressed in around her.
Finally... Her legs gave out.
She sat heavily on the edge of the bed, her hands shaking as she tried to process everything.
This isnât real. It canât be. But it was. Every second of it. Her gaze drifted to the window.
The forest outside stretched endlessly into darkness. No roads. No lights. No escape.
A shiver ran through her. She was trapped. Not just by walls. But by him.
A soft knock broke the silence. Deline stiffened.
âCome in,â she said cautiously.
The door opened slowly. A young woman stepped inside, her posture submissive, her eyes lowered.
âGood evening,â she said quietly. âIâve been assigned to assist you.â
Deline blinked.
âAssist me?â
âYes.â The woman hesitated slightly. âThe Alpha King gave strict orders.â
Something in her tone made Delineâs chest tighten.
âWhat kind of orders?â
The woman swallowed. Then answered carefully:
âTo ensure you are⊠comfortable.â
Deline almost laughed.
[Comfortable? In a cage? In his bed?]
But before she could respond...The woman stepped closer. Then paused. Her nose twitched slightly. Her eyes widened. And for the first time, she looked directly at Deline. Not with pity. Not with curiosity. But with shock.
âThat scentâŠâ she whispered.
Deline frowned.
âWhat about it?â
The woman took a small step back. Fear creeping into her expression.
âThatâs not possibleâŠâ
A chill ran down Delineâs spine.
âWhat are you talking about?â
The woman shook her head quickly.
âNothing. I... it must be a mistake.â

Chapter Three: The Kingâs Territory
Deline pressed her fingers into her dress.
âWhere are you taking me?â she asked again, quieter now.
This time, he answered.
âMy territory.â
The words sent a chill down her spine. Territory. Not home. Not house. Territory.
As if she were nothing more than something being transported into a predatorâs domain. Her stomach tightened.
âAnd when we get there?â she asked.
A faint smirk touched his lips.
âYou learn your place.â
Her breath hitched.
âIâm not...â
âCareful.â
The single word cut her off instantly.
Not loud. Not harsh. But heavy with warning.
Delineâs lips pressed together. But something inside her refused to completely submit.
âI may be under contract,â she said softly, âbut that doesnât mean Iâll just⊠obey everything.â
The air in the car shifted. Dangerously. Michael leaned slightly closer. Not enough to touch her. But enough that she felt it. Every inch. Every breath.
âYou misunderstand something, Deline Moore.â
Her name on his lips did something strange to her chest.
âYou donât get to decide what you will or wonât do.â
Her pulse pounded.
âAnd if I refuse?â
A dangerous question.
She knew it. But she asked anyway. For a moment... He said nothing..Then his hand lifted. Slowly. Deliberately.
Deline froze as his fingers brushed a damp strand of hair away from her face.
The touch was⊠gentle. Too gentle. It made it worse. Because it didnât match the darkness in his eyes.
âYou wonât.â
Her breath caught.
The certainty in his voice wasnât arrogance. It was instinct.
As if he already knew her better than she knew herself. And somehow... That terrified her more than anything else.
The car slowed. Then stopped. Delineâs heart jumped into her throat. The door opened. Cold air rushed in. She stepped out slowly... And froze.
Before her stood something massive.
A towering estate surrounded by iron gates and dense forest, its dark structure stretching into the night like a fortress.
Lights glowed from tall windows.
Guards stood at every entrance.
Wolves. All of them. Watching. Waiting. Her chest tightened. This wasnât a home. It was a kingdom.
And she had just been dragged into the center of it.
Michael stepped out beside her. The guards immediately lowered their heads.
âAlpha King.â
The words echoed in unison.
Deline felt it again, that overwhelming reminder of who he was. Not just powerful. Absolute.
His hand settled lightly on the small of her back.
Possessive. Guiding. Claiming.
âWalk.â
She hesitated.
Just for a second. Then... She obeyed.
As they entered the estate, the massive doors shut behind them with a deep, echoing boom.
Sealing her inside.
Delineâs breath came out unevenly as she took in the interior, marble floors, towering ceilings, and an atmosphere thick with dominance and control.
Every eye that passed them lingered on her. Whispers followed.
âHuman?â
âShe smells⊠different.â
âWhy would the Alpha King...â
Michael stopped abruptly.
Deline nearly walked into him. Before she could step back... He turned. His gaze swept across the room.
Cold. Lethal. Instant silence. No one spoke again. No one even breathed too loudly.
Then his eyes dropped to her. And something shifted. Not softer. But darker. More focused.
âYouâll stay in my wing.â
Her heart skipped.
âI thought⊠Iâd be placed somewhere else.â
Somewhere safer. Farther from him. His lips curved slightly. Not quite a smile.
âYou thought wrong.â
Her stomach dropped. Before she could respond... He leaned down.
Close enough that his breath brushed her ear. Close enough that the world seemed to disappear.
âYou donât get distance from me, Deline.â
Her pulse exploded.
His voice dropped into something deeper. Rougher. Possessive.
âYou belong where I can see you.â
Delineâs breath caught as a shiver ran through her.
Fear. Yes. But not just fear. And that was the most dangerous part of all.
Deline hadnât realized how far his âwingâ extended. It wasnât just a section of the estate.
It was an entire world within it.
Hallways stretched endlessly, lined with dark wood and dim golden lights. Every step echoed too loudly beneath her feet, as if the place itself was reminding her... You donât belong here.
Michael walked ahead of her, his pace unhurried, his presence dominating even in silence. She followed because she had no choice⊠and because something inside her pulled her forward despite the fear clawing at her chest.
They stopped in front of a tall door. He opened it without a word.
âInside.â
Deline hesitated.
Just for a second. Then she stepped in. The room was⊠unexpected. Huge. Elegant. Warm in a way the rest of the estate wasnât.
A large bed sat at the center, draped in dark sheets. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked the forest, now shrouded in night. A fire crackled softly in the corner, casting flickering shadows along the walls.
It looked less like a cage⊠And more like a trap disguised as comfort.

Chapter Two: The Price of Survival
The room remained deathly still. Deline stared at the signature, her mind struggling to catch up.
âWhat⊠what are you doing?â she whispered, panic rising.
His grip tightened slightly, not enough to hurt, but enough to remind her she couldnât pull away.
When he spoke, his voice was low. Controlled. Terrifyingly certain.
âYou were about to make a mistake.â
Her heart pounded.
âI didnât ask for...â
âYou donât need to.â
His thumb brushed lightly over her pulse point. The contact was brief. But it burned.
His eyes darkened, his voice dropping just enough that only she could hear:
âYouâre mine now.â
The words didnât just settle in the air. They wrapped around her. Bound her. Changed everything.
Delineâs breath hitched as fear, and something far more dangerous, curled deep in her chest. Because the most terrifying part wasnât the contract.
Or the Alpha King.
Or even the way the entire room now looked at her with a mix of shock and pity.
It was the way her own heart betrayed her⊠Racing wildly at his touch.
Deline didnât remember leaving the hall. One moment, she was standing there, frozen, bound by a signature that wasnât hers.
The next... She was outside.
The rain had softened into a cold drizzle, but the air still bit against her skin. Or maybe that was just the reality finally settling in.
She had been claimed. Not by just anyone. But by him...
Alpha King Michael Burrows.
Her wrist still tingled where he had touched her, the sensation lingering like a brand she couldnât erase.
âMove.â
His voice cut through her thoughts.
Deline stiffened.
She turned slowly, her gaze lifting to meet his towering figure. Up close, he was even more overwhelming, his presence suffocating, his expression unreadable.
âIâŠâ She swallowed. âWhere are we going?â
His eyes narrowed slightly, as if the question itself amused him.
âYou ask a lot of questions for someone who just sold herself.â
Heat flared in her chest, fear, humiliation, anger all tangled together.
âI didnât sell myself to you,â she said, her voice quieter than she intended but steady. âYou didnât even let me choose.â
For a brief second... Something flickered in his gaze.
Dark. Sharp. Interested. Then it was gone.
âYou signed the contract,â he replied flatly. âThe rest is irrelevant.â
Before she could argue further, he turned and began walking toward a sleek black vehicle waiting near the gates.
Deline hesitated.
Every instinct in her body screamed at her to run. Now. Before it was too late. But run where? Back to hunger? To debt? To watching her family slowly fall apart?
Her fists clenched at her sides. There was nowhere to go. With a shaky breath, she followed him.
The car door opened before she reached it. Deline paused, glancing at the driver, a silent, stone-faced man who didnât even look at her.
Everything about this felt unreal. Like she had stepped into a life that didnât belong to her.
Michael slid into the back seat without a word. Deline lingered for half a second longer. Then, swallowing her fear, she climbed in after him. The door shut with a heavy thud.
Final.
The ride was silent. Oppressive.
Deline sat as far from him as the seat allowed, her hands clenched tightly in her lap. But distance didnât matter. She could feel him. Every second.
Like a shadow pressing against her senses. Her pulse refused to steady. Her thoughts refused to settle.
And worst of all... Her body refused to ignore him. That strange pull from earlier hadnât faded. If anything⊠it had grown stronger. Deline shifted uncomfortably.
[What is wrong with me?]
She risked a glance at him.
Big mistake.
He was already looking at her. His dark eyes locked onto hers with an intensity that stole the air from her lungs. Deline quickly looked away, her heart racing.
âDo I make you nervous?â
His voice was calm. Too calm.
âYes,â she admitted before she could stop herself.
He paused. Then...
âGood.â
Her breath caught. She turned toward him again, disbelief flashing across her face.
âThatâs not something you should be proud of.â
One of his brows lifted slightly.
âAnd yet,â he said slowly, âyouâre still here.â
The words hit harder than they should have. Because he was right. She was still here. Trapped by her own choices. Or lack of them.
Silence fell again. But this time, it was thicker. Charged.
The city lights faded as the car sped forward. Dark forest replaced concrete. Tall trees loomed on either side of the road, their branches twisting overhead like watching figures.

Chapter One: The Price Of Survival
The rain wouldnât stop. It poured in relentless sheets, drenching the narrow streets and turning the dirt beneath Delineâs worn shoes into thick, clinging mud. Her dress, once white, now clung to her skin, heavy and cold, but she barely felt it.
All she could feel was the weight of her decision. Her fingers trembled as she stood before the towering iron gates.
Beyond them lay the world of wolves. A world where humans like her didnât belong⊠unless they were owned.
Deline swallowed hard, her throat dry despite the rain. The flickering lantern above the gate cast shadows across the sign etched into stone, âCONTRACT HALL â PROPERTY EXCHANGE AUTHORIZEDâ
Her heart slammed painfully against her ribs. This was it. There was no turning back.
âState your purpose.â
The voice came from the guard, a massive wolf shifter in human form, his golden eyes glowing faintly in the darkness. He looked her over with thinly veiled disdain, his gaze lingering just a second too long.
Deline forced her chin up, even as her knees threatened to give out.
âIâŠâ Her voice faltered.
[Say it.]
[You came here for this.]
âIâm here to sign a contract.â
The guardâs expression shifted, interest now replacing boredom.
âVoluntary?â he asked.
Deline hesitated.
Images flashed through her mind, her motherâs pale face, the empty cupboards, the debt collectors who no longer knocked but threatened.
This wasnât a choice.
ââŠYes.â
The lie tasted bitter.
The guard smirked, stepping aside as the gates creaked open with a low, echoing groan.
âThen step inside.â
The air changed the moment she crossed the threshold. It was thicker. Heavier. Alive.
Delineâs breath hitched as she entered the hall, her senses immediately overwhelmed. The scent of damp earth, burning candles, and something darker, something animalistic, wrapped around her like an unseen hand.
The room was already full. Men. Not men. Wolves.
They stood in small groups, their voices low, their presence suffocating. Some leaned against the walls with lazy confidence, others sat like kings observing a game.
And every single one of them turned to look at her. Delineâs stomach twisted. To them, she wasnât a person. She was inventory.
âAnother one?â someone muttered.
Heat rushed to her face, but she refused to lower her gaze. If she showed weakness now, she would shatter completely.
A woman approached her then, tall, sharp-featured, dressed in black silk that whispered power.
âThe desk is this way,â she said coolly.
Deline nodded, following her through the sea of watching eyes. Each step felt heavier than the last.
When they reached the front, a thick parchment was placed before her, the ink still fresh, the symbols unfamiliar and ominous.
âA standard submission contract,â the woman explained. âOnce signed, you belong to the buyer. No reversal. No escape.â
Delineâs fingers curled into fists.
[Belong.]
The word echoed painfully in her chest.
âDo IâŠâ She hesitated. âDo I get to choose who buys me?â
The womanâs lips curved faintly, not quite a smile.
âNo. Of course not.â
Deline stared down at the parchment.
Her name was already written. All that remained⊠was her signature. Her freedom. Her life. Her future. All reduced to a single stroke of ink.
Her hand shook as she picked up the pen. Just do it. For them. For your family. The moment the pen touched the page...
The doors slammed open.
A thunderous sound that shook the entire hall. Silence fell instantly. Not gradual. Not hesitant. Absolute.
Deline froze.
A presence filled the room. Heavy. Commanding. Terrifying. And then...
He stepped inside. Tall. Broad. Dressed in black like the storm itself had taken form. Every movement he made was deliberate, controlled⊠lethal. Deline didnât need anyone to say his name.
She felt it.
In the way the wolves around her lowered their heads. In the way the air itself seemed to bow. In the way her heart suddenly forgot how to beat.
Alpha King Michael Burrows.
Her breath caught. His gaze swept across the room, cold, detached, until it landed on her.
And everything stopped. It wasnât just a look. It was a collision.
Something invisible snapped into place, sharp and undeniable. Delineâs chest tightened painfully as an unfamiliar heat spread through her veins.
[What⊠is this?]
Michaelâs expression didnât change.
But something dark flickered in his eyes. He took a step forward.
Then another.
Each footstep echoed like a countdown to something she didnât understand, but instinctively feared.
He stopped directly in front of her. Too close. Far too close. Deline couldnât breathe. Couldnât think. Couldnât look away.
His scent surrounded her, smoke, cedar, and something wild that made her pulse race uncontrollably.
His gaze dropped briefly to the unsigned contract in her trembling hand.
Then back to her face. A long, heavy silence stretched between them. Before... He reached out. Not gently. Not cruelly. Just⊠decisively.
His fingers wrapped around her wrist. The contact sent a shock through her entire body.
Deline gasped.
âStop...â
With one swift motion, he took the pen from her hand and signed the contract himself.
His name carved into the page like a verdict. Michael Burrows.

My First Time in a Chinese Restaurant
So yesterday I decided to act rich and took myself to a Chinese restaurant. I even walked in slowly, nodding at people like I owned shares in the place. đ
The waiter brought the menu. I opened it⊠and immediately knew I was in trouble.
Everything had names like Dragon Fire Chicken and Kung Pao Something Something. I just pointed at the most expensive one so theyâd respect me.
When the food arrived, they gave me two sticks. Just two. No spoon. No fork. Just chopsticks. đ„ą
I laughed confidently and said,
âItâs okay, I know how to use these.â
Five minutes later, I was sweating like I was writing final exams. The noodles kept falling back into the plate like they were refusing to leave their country.
The couple at the next table was watching me struggle. The girl even whispered,
âShould we help him?â đ
In the end, I called the waiter and said quietly,
âPlease⊠bring me African cutlery before I disgrace my ancestors.â
He brought a fork. I ate peacefully.
But the worst part?
They still added âservice chargeâ to the bill⊠for a service I had to beg for. đ
Thatâs the last time Iâll go somewhere my food needs training before it reaches my mouth.
