SSFF Spokesperson responds to Presidential aspirant Teng Deng’s candidature

The South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) spokesperson, Albino Kuek Deng, has publicly addressed recent claims made by Teng Deng, who announced his intention to run for the federation’s presidency.

Speaking to the media, Albino clarified concerns surrounding Teng Deng’s background and eligibility, particularly regarding claims of professional football and coaching experience in the United Kingdom with clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Swansea.

“Since the SSFF elections were announced, a self-proclaimed presidential candidate has emerged on Facebook, claiming ties to top UK clubs. After thorough checks on official records and coaching databases, there is no verifiable evidence of such affiliations,” Albino stated.

The spokesperson noted that professional coaching in the UK requires UEFA A or Pro Licenses qualifications Teng Deng has not presented. He further highlighted that the aspirant has not secured any nomination from local football associations, which is a prerequisite for official candidacy.

Albino urged the media and public to verify information shared online, cautioning against misinformation.

“In an era where digital archives make it easy to trace even semi-professional careers, the absence of evidence raises serious questions. We need leaders who are honest about their credentials and committed to the development of South Sudanese football.”

While refraining from personal attacks, Albino underscored the achievements of the current SSFF leadership under President Gen. Augustino Maduot, pointing to progress in national team programs, domestic competitions, and youth development initiatives.

Former Lakes State deputy governor Daniel Ayual dies in Nairobi

Daniel Ayual Makoi, the former deputy governor of Lakes State, passed away on March 30, 2025, at a hospital in Nairobi, Kenya.

His family confirmed that he died from complications related to diabetes.

Plans are underway to return his body to South Sudan for burial.
