Ik ben geen politicus.

Ik ben gewoon een Surinamer die houdt van zijn land.

Daarom doet het pijn om elk jaar opnieuw dezelfde problemen te zien. Straten die onder water staan. Auto’s die beschadigd raken. Woningen die schade oplopen. Problemen waarvan we al jaren weten dat ze bestaan.

Volgens mij ligt het grootste probleem niet bij één partij.

Het probleem is dat we in Suriname te vaak politieke belangen boven deskundigheid plaatsen.

Een ministerie is geen beloning voor verkiezingswinst.

Een ministerie is een verantwoordelijkheid naar het volk toe.

De beste mensen horen op de belangrijkste posities te zitten. Niet omdat ze populair zijn. Niet omdat ze stemmen hebben gewonnen. Niet omdat ze loyaal zijn aan een partij.

Maar omdat ze de kennis, ervaring en visie hebben om resultaten te leveren.

Suriname heeft genoeg slimme, capabele mensen.

Laten we stoppen met vragen:
“Van welke partij ben je?”

En beginnen met vragen:
“Ben jij de juiste persoon voor deze functie?”

Want uiteindelijk zijn het niet de politieke partijen die in een straat vol water rijden.

Dat zijn wij.

Niet de partijen betalen voor schade aan onze auto’s en huizen.

Dat doen wij.

Suriname verdient beter.

Niet meer politiek.

Maar beter bestuur.
