Keynote Speaker Introduction!!!
Meet the Keynote speaker Max Huisden โ Professor of Environmental Sciences at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname (AdeKUS). Board member of the Faculty of Technological Sciences (FTeW) and Coordinator of the Environmental Sciences program.
He is actively involved in various organizations dedicated to the protection, conservation, and restoration of the environment; he also promotes initiatives aimed at fostering green and sustainable development.
He serves as Chairman of the Water Forum Suriname (WFS) and is a member of the Water Platform, where he provides advisory support to the Minister of Natural Resources.

Meet panelist Samunda Jabini โ a Saamaka Afro-descendant tribal peoplesโ rights defender and Project Manager at VSG (Association for Saamaka Communities). Her work spans territorial rights advocacy, environmental governance, and international representation. She consistently amplifies Saamaka voices in global policy spaces.
A storyteller, facilitator, and sociologist by training, Samunda advocates for Indigenous and Tribal Peoplesโ rights and works to address threats posed by extractive industries, including artisanal mining, logging, and poaching.
