I travelled to South Africa to shoot a lifestyle documentary, ended up shooting a gang related documentary. Covering murder, r**e & private security… Being in situations and seeing things impossibly hard to stomach. It humbles me and reminds me how lucky I’ve been to be born in a safe, privileged environment full of opportunities. On a personal level, even if this is the hardest project I’ve ever had to film, I couldn’t feel more proud. I took the biggest gamble of my career, quit my job, self financed, produced and presented this documentary. My heart feels so full. It is from a place of humility that I present my latest photography series: Re-Silence.
Re-Silence, or returning to silence, is a leap into the profound consciousness that resides within life. Appearances are temporary disguises in movement, thereby the sense of self perception resides against the background of stillness. Re-silence is a journey back to where it all started: the destination is the point of origin.
