Friendzy Initiatives–FIND Signs Sub-Grant Agreement Under EU Co-Funded INSPIRE Programme
Kenema, Sierra Leone August 29, 2026 Friendzy Initiatives for National Unity and Development (FIND) has formally signed a Sub-Grant Agreement with the Agency for Integrated Development - SL (AID-SL) under the INSPIRE Programme, co-funded by the European Union.
The agreement follows the successful evaluation of FIND’s project proposal, “Youth Voices for Peace: Combating Misinformation and Strengthening Social Cohesion.” The approved grant of SLE 378,086 will support the organization to implement a range of interventions in Kenema District aimed at empowering young people, promoting responsible information sharing, combating misinformation, and strengthening social cohesion and peace within communities.

The signing ceremony and Grant Opening Workshop were held in Kenema on August 29, 2026, bringing together grantees, implementing partners, and key stakeholders to officially mark the commencement of grant implementation.
Throughout the project, FIND will work with young people and communities to strengthen their capacity to identify and respond to misinformation, promote responsible engagement, encourage constructive dialogue, and support youth-led initiatives that contribute to peaceful coexistence and community resilience.
The initiative is anchored in the recognition that young people have a critical role to play in shaping Sierra Leone’s information environment and advancing peace and development. By equipping youth with the knowledge, skills, and platforms to engage responsibly, FIND seeks to transform young people into active champions of peace, social cohesion, and responsible information sharing.

The project will contribute to the broader goal of creating peaceful, inclusive, and resilient communities in Kenema District, where young people, women, and other community members can meaningfully participate in governance, development, peacebuilding, and conflict prevention.
The impact of the intervention is expected to extend beyond the immediate project activities by contributing to Sierra Leone’s broader efforts to consolidate peace, strengthen social cohesion, reduce the harmful effects of misinformation, promote inclusive participation, and advance the country’s development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Representing FIND at the signing ceremony were Francis Foday Amara, Chairman and Leader of FIND, and David M. Gbetuwah, Esq. Their participation marked an important milestone in FIND’s continued commitment to advancing initiatives that promote peace, unity, responsible citizenship, and sustainable community development.

Speaking on behalf of FIND, Francis Foday Amara, Chairman and Leader, expressed appreciation to AID-SL and the European Union for the confidence and support extended to the organization.
He reaffirmed FIND’s commitment to implementing the project with transparency, accountability, and professionalism, while ensuring that the grant resources are utilized effectively and strictly for their intended purposes.
The Executive Director of AID-SL, Mr. Alfred Amadu Gbonda, Esq., highlighted the importance of investing in local organizations and community-led initiatives as a means of strengthening local ownership and sustainable development. He encouraged grantees to maximize the opportunity by ensuring effective implementation, accountability, and meaningful community participation.

The Grant Opening Workshop also provided an opportunity for participating organizations to gain a deeper understanding of the INSPIRE project, align on project objectives, review implementation and reporting requirements, and establish a framework for effective collaboration throughout the grant period.

FIND is grateful to AID-SL, the European Union, its partners, volunteers, and the communities of Kenema District for their support and confidence. The organization looks forward to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the project and deliver meaningful results for young people and communities.
