The Sierra Leone Labour Congress (SLLC) has called on the Government and the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA) to urgently review and reduce fuel pump prices following the recent decline in international crude oil prices.

In a letter dated June 25, 2026, and signed by Secretary General Max K. Conteh, the Congress argued that falling global oil prices should translate into lower fuel costs for Sierra Leoneans. The labour body is requesting an immediate review of the fuel pricing formula, a reduction in the prices of petrol, diesel, and kerosene, regular monthly price reviews, and a reduction of taxes and other charges on petroleum products.

According to the SLLC, lower fuel prices would provide much-needed relief to households struggling with the high cost of living, reduce transportation expenses, lower business operating costs, and support economic growth.

The Congress expressed optimism that the Government will act in the interest of the people and ensure that the benefits of lower international oil prices are passed on to consumers.
