What is poverty?

How is it really defined?

Earning less than $1 a day?

Maybe.

What then is wealth?

How can it be defined?

Having more than enough to meet one's needs?

How then do we define poverty structurally, but define wealth functionally?

This makes 'poor' people blind to all the resources available to them🥺

I'm so very pained.

Do you know that a man is not made by the abundance of his possessions?

He is made by Wisdom.

Bloody Forbes!! And all the agents of greed we listen to.

Can't waste a breath to tell us the next richest person on earth;

Like why the heck do I need to know that?????

Then I start aiming for endlessness.

Bottomlessness.

A hundred billion dollars can be had by one man. But he still can't end world hunger.

Because only regular people can.

By not throwing away left overs.

But how can they do that, when they are 'poor'?

Build people to run systems. A beautiful plan is at the mercy of those that implement it.

Pass core values across generations through memorials. God said to Israel 'hang it by the door, so that when your children ask you - what is this?' then you pass the value. Pass the value, pass the virtue.

Memorials. Not sterile customs.

People have to be taught actively, not left at the mercy of impersonal systems, no matter how beautifully structured those systems are. Systems will always be 'interpreted' by people.

It was the custom of Israel to hold Passover feasts; a miracle of deliverance in their history like no other nation has ever known, or may ever know. But it became just a passing custom, meant nothing special... because no one was passing across values.
Jesus attended one and saw how it was just cloud without rain. A ceremony that held so much potential had become a shallow, passive, draining engagement... where there was supposed to be living water, Jesus was seeing great thirst!

A Pharaoh came that didn't know Joseph, and Israel went into slavery. No memorial. Joseph's Pharaoh did not pass important things down.

Do you ever feel old, my friend?

I still remember the 6 year old that was always injury prone, fractured his left humerus twice at the same spot, two years apart; then cracked his skull by falling into a gutter after brushing his mouth!!😆 ...then fell off an orange tree, over a fence topped with broken bottle edges, then to the floor, rising to a projectile of blood stream from a severed right radial artery.

My mom didn't believe I'd live past 10 years I'm sure. I was literally threatening to die in my childhood😉

I remember the 15 year old, hanging around in secondary school, no more threatening to die physically, but still opening my soul to death.
I wasted all opportunities possible, got introduced to po*******hy, had no clue where I was headed, or who I was. I was shy, trembled at responsibility, could not lead, could not talk to a girl, liked my self if someone did, hated myself once some else does. My mind twirling endlessly, focused on nothing in particular.

Then I became the 17 year old boy, one year out of secondary school, reading a book in his father's backyard, and looking up to heaven, eyes closed, heart enlarging, feeling suddenly powerful, and alive! I was meeting Jesus. The book: Why I believe the Bible - A J Po***ck.

Then the 22 year old, waking early in teaching hospital hostel, opening the scriptures and mediating on promises that blew my mind. Walking out to pray by the Pharmacology lab, believing God to do all manner of things - to heal my varicose veins, save all my classmates, help me understand Pathology, make my smile perfect for my sweetheart😉

Now I'm a father taking pictures with bunny ears, and proudly.

Truly all it takes is for the seed to enter the ground, the sower goes to sleep and wakes, how it grows he does not know.

And if I made it here... Jesus is your answer too❤️‍🔥
