Children Integrated Development Organization (CIDS) is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to transforming the lives of vulnerable children in Sierra Leone, West Africa, through the power of education. Operating in one of the world's most resource-challenged regions, CIDS works tirelessly to ensure that children in needy situations are not defined by their circumstances, but rather empowered to overcome them.
Our Mission
At CIDS, we believe every child deserves access to quality education regardless of their economic background. Our mission is to provide comprehensive educational support to children facing poverty, displacement, and disadvantage, creating pathways out of need and into opportunity. We recognize that education is not merely about literacy and numeracy—it is about restoring dignity, building confidence, and equipping the next generation with the tools to rebuild their communities.
Our Schools
To bring this vision to life, CIDS has established two primary schools that serve as beacons of hope in their communities:
• CIDS New – A nurturing learning environment where children receive foundational education, meals, and the support they need to thrive academically and personally.
• CIDS Kambia – Located in the Kambia vIllage in Port Loko District, this school extends our reach to some of the most underserved children in the region, providing them with structured learning, school supplies, and a safe space to grow.
Both schools operate with a holistic approach, addressing not just academic needs but also the emotional and social wellbeing of every child who walks through their doors.
Why Sierra Leone?
Sierra Leone continues to recover from decades of civil conflict and health crises that devastated its educational infrastructure. Many children, particularly in rural and impoverished areas, remain out of school due to economic barriers, lack of facilities, or the need to contribute to family survival. CIDS exists to bridge this gap, ensuring that need does not extinguish potential.
Our Approach
CIDS integrates education with development by:
• Providing free or subsidized primary education to children who would otherwise go without
• Supplying learning materials, uniforms, and nutritious meals to remove barriers to attendance
• Training local teachers to deliver quality instruction rooted in community values
• Creating safe, inclusive environments where girls and boys learn side by side
• Connecting education with broader community development initiatives
