LUMLEY BEACH CLEANUP DAILY UPDATE 3 APRIL 2026

This morning, workers converged to fully prepare with safety gear for their assigned duty of removing logs from Queens Road Bio Barah Pennusila. The technical team will use these logs to produce benches for the beach. Eighteen logs were loaded onto a truck and transported by our team to Sunny Side Lumley Beach, which is our current base.

We are calling on the Sierra Leone Road Authority (SLRA) to address a broken sidewalk at Lumley Beach Road near the Golf Club fence. Another crack has also formed near the broken sidewalk.

We continue to make an environmental impact by collecting empty bottles for recycling.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support us.

LUMLEY BEACH CLEANUP DAILY UPDATE 28 MARCH 2026

This morning, dedicated workers started their duty right behind Sunny Side by removing debris that washed ashore overnight and preparing it for wheelbarrow operators. Saturday is always a challenging day for workers as they prepare the beach for the weekend by clearing every corner of stones and emptying trash bins. In the afternoon, we focused on collecting trash as it’s the third phase of the project.

We want to bring to the public's attention that citizens are still using the beach as a toilet; we are seeing human waste regularly.

The technical team continues the production of new trash bins. Today, they engaged in painting, cutting, and binding tires together to form a set of bins: The Eleventh Set of Trash Bin Installations by the Technical Team.

DAY 103—LUMLEY BEACH CLEANUP

With teamwork and a solid system, workers began removing debris that washed ashore with the high tide, which lasted until 1 p.m.

They continued after lunch by collecting trash brought in by the water and also digging out trash buried under the sand. The water level has risen so high, serving as a warning from the Climate Change Center.

Today, management continued distributing phones and SIM cards to workers who are out of communication. These phones will be used to pay their salaries through Orange Money.

The technical team continues the production of new trash bins. They installed eight sets of trash bins along the golf club.

DAY 101—LUMLEY BEACH CLEANUP

Today, the dedicated team began by removing debris that washed ashore overnight with the high tide. We collected a huge pile of waste left on the beach after the Eid Mubarak celebration, which presented workers with significant challenges in sorting out the trash. We discovered three damaged sets of trash bins; some people sat on them yesterday and caused the damage.

The technical team continues the production of new trash bins. They are facing considerable challenges today regarding how to transport the damaged bins back to the work station for repairs.

DAY 98—LUMLEY BEACH CLEANUP

We started the day of work this morning as workers demonstrated their responsibilities by collecting tools and heading straight to their work locations. They removed debris that washed ashore overnight and targeted trash using rakes, which was then sent to the truck location.

The technical team continues the production of the trash bin so we can fill up the remaining spaces.

The management would like to extend a big thank you to Mr. Nichol for donating 15 used tires for the trash bin.
