SECURITY UPDATES FROM KAMBIA DIVISION.

In the ongoing efforts to combat the intake of harmful drugs in the Kambia District, joint Security Forces successfully burned large quantities of KUSH, CANNABIS SATIVA, and TRAMADOL at the Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024 at 09:00 hours.The burning ceremony was attended by the Police, Military, ONS, Media, Civil Society Organisations, Traditional Rulers, and the District Magistrate, who all agreed to destroy the prohibited substances seized from the accused persons charged in court.

Following the burning ceremony, 23 accused persons were sentenced to jail for unlawful possession of KUSH, CANNABIS SATIVA, and TRAMADOL. The large quantities of drugs seized from their possessions were also destroyed during the ceremony.
A total of 1,620 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa, 2,980 wraps of green plants suspected to be kush, and 3,400 cards of tramadol were destroyed.

In conclusion, the joint efforts of the security forces and other stakeholders in Kambia District have led to a significant crackdown on the illegal drug trade in the district.

The Management of Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority(EDSA) wishes to inform the general public that due to technical difficulties experienced at the Freetown 161 Power Station at Kingtom, which is managed by the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company( EGTC), the power generating entities (EGTC, Karpower and Bumbuna) are working collectively to restore and synchronize all the power sources to enable them send power to the distribution transformer for equitable distribution and supply to residents of Freetown.

The Authority therefore apologize for the inconvenience this technical glitch has caused and further assures its valued customers that once the fault is resolved by the generating entities ( EGTC, Karpower and Bumbuna), EDSA would restore normal power supply to the City.
