Yesterday was a great day for our teachers and our nation.
I was honored to join the Sierra Leone Teachers Union (SLTU) at their Head Office in Freetown for the official launch of 28 motorbikes – one for every District, Zone, Region, and the Union's Head Office.
This event was also graced by Hon. Alpha Timbo.
The theme of the launch was "Reaching Out to Teachers for Effective Service Delivery." This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between union leadership and our dedicated teachers serving in remote and hard-to-reach communities across the country.
For too long, distance has been a barrier to communication, support, and service delivery. No more.
I believe in action, not just words. When the government and the union work together in genuine partnership, our teachers benefit – and when our teachers benefit, Sierra Leone wins.
I thank the president of the SLTU the leadership, and every teacher who continues to sacrifice for our children's future. These motorbikes are a symbol of our collective commitment: We will leave no teacher behind.
Onward, together.

Orange Sierra Leone has officially launched an Orange Digital Center Club at Every Nation College in Bo, marking a major milestone in efforts to enhance digital education and equip young people with essential 21st-century skills across Sierra Leone.
The initiative, implemented through the Orange Foundation, aligns with the company’s corporate social responsibility agenda, which prioritizes education, digital inclusion and sustainable human capital development.
The commissioning ceremony was led by the Chief Executive Officer of Orange Sierra Leone, Madam Aïcha Touré, who was accompanied by senior management staff and directors of the company. Her presence underscored the organisation’s commitment to investing in the future of young people through technology and innovation.
The event drew a wide array of stakeholders, including the Deputy Registrar of Njala University, the Bo District Chairman, principals of various secondary schools, lecturers, administrative staff, members of the media and students of Every Nation College. The gathering highlighted the importance of collaboration between the private sector, educational institutions and local communities in driving national development.
The newly established digital center is equipped with modern computers, internet connectivity and advanced digital learning tools designed to enhance teaching and learning experiences. The facility will serve as a hub for students to develop practical digital skills, conduct research and explore opportunities in areas such as information technology, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Madam Aïcha Touré emphasized the growing importance of digital literacy in today’s global economy. She noted that empowering young people with digital competencies is critical not only for personal advancement but also for national growth and competitiveness.
She further explained that the Orange Digital Center initiative is intended to bridge the digital divide, particularly for students in underserved communities, while creating pathways for employment, entrepreneurship and innovation.
The introduction of the facility is expected to significantly boost youth development by equipping students with relevant skills including computer literacy, coding, digital communication and problem solving competencies that are increasingly vital in a rapidly evolving digital world.
Human capital development remains central to Sierra Leone’s long-term development goals, with investments in education and digital infrastructure playing a crucial role in achieving sustainable progress. Through this initiative, Orange Sierra Leone is contributing to the development of a generation of innovative thinkers, skilled professionals and future leaders.
The Proprietor and Principal of Every Nation College, along with staff and students, expressed appreciation to Orange Sierra Leone and the Orange Foundation for what they described as a timely and transformative intervention. Students at the event expressed excitement over the new center, noting that access to digital tools will improve their research capabilities, expose them to global knowledge platforms and better prepare them for higher education and the job market.
The launch of the Orange Digital Center Club at Every Nation College reflects the increasing role of corporate institutions in supporting national development through impactful social investments. By prioritizing digital education and youth empowerment, Orange Sierra Leone continues to contribute to building a more inclusive, innovative and digitally empowered society.
