The InnoRenew CoE International Conference 2026 (IRIC2026) will take place 5–6 November 2026 at the InnoRenew CoE building in Izola.

The Municipality of Ankaran’s newsletter recently featured an article about our student Ana Gorup and her internship experience at Debeli Rtič Landscape Park.

Novi projekti predstavljajo pomemben prispevek k raziskovanju, inovacijam, trajnostnemu razvoju ter povezovanju z domačimi in mednarodnimi partnerji.

We are pleased to invite you to the Inaugural Lecture of prof. dr. Matthew Schwarzkopf, Full Professor in the field of Wood Science,
entitled: "Rooted in Nature: Learning from Wood".

👨🏻‍🏫The lecture will take place on Friday, 11th September 2026, at 13:00, in Lecture Room Sequoia, InnoRenew CoE, Livade 6a, 6310 Izola (1st floor).

This lecture introduces Dr. Matthew Schwarzkopf’s journey from early experiences in nature, outdoor exploration, and university study to a career in wood science and sustainable materials. It reflects on how hands-on learning and curiosity about natural systems shaped his professional development and scientific interests. Tracing a path from forestry and wood composites to sustainable built environments, the lecture culminates with his professional mission: to foster industrial agricultural practices and natural resource use that prioritize sustainability, biodiversity, and ecosystem health while meeting the needs of a growing population.

»Strunjanska artičoka« je bila pod drobnogledom znanosti.
V znanstveni reviji Scientific Reports je bila objavljena raziskava, pri kateri sta sodelovali tudi raziskovalki Univerze na Primorskem, partnerici projekta. Genetska analiza je pokazala, da naša artičoka predstavlja samostojen genski bazen in se jasno razlikuje od analiziranih italijanskih sort.
Takšni izsledki so pomemben korak k vpisu sorte v slovensko sortno listo ter dolgoročnemu ohranjanju te dragocene lokalne sorte.

Projekt se izvaja v okviru LAS Zelena Istra in pristopa LEADER/CLLD. Projekt sofinancira Evropska unija iz Evropskega kmetijskega sklada za razvoj podeželja (EKSRP) v okviru Strateškega načrta SKP 2023–2027.

Il «Carciofo di Strugnano» è finito sotto la lente della scienza.
Sulla rivista scientifica Scientific Reports è stato pubblicato uno studio a cui hanno collaborato anche due ricercatrici dell'Università del Litorale, partner del progetto. L'analisi genetica ha dimostrato che il nostro ca****fo costituisce un pool genico autonomo e si distingue nettamente dalle varietà italiane analizzate.
Risultati come questi sono un passo importante verso l'iscrizione della varietà nella Lista delle varietà vegetali della Slovenia e verso la conservazione a lungo termine di questa preziosa varietà locale.

The “Strunjan Artichoke” has been the subject of scientific research.
A study published in the scientific journal Scientific Reports also involved two researchers from the University of Primorska, who are project partners. Genetic analysis showed that our artichoke represents a distinct gene pool and clearly differs from the Italian varieties included in the analysis.

These findings are an important step towards registering the variety in the Slovenian national list of varieties and ensuring the long-term preservation of this valuable local variety.

The Univerza na Primorskem / University of Primorska and University of Trieste have opened their Third 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝟰𝗘𝗨 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲/𝟮𝟳 𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿.

The programme enables professors and researchers from institutions outside the T4EU Alliance to spend time at both universities, combining teaching, research and collaboration with local academic teams.
