During my time at the fire station I've seen there's so much that these dedicated firefighters do. I learned so many interesting things, such as Rope Rescue, RTC training, etc. Being a part of these events made me realise that my interest in being a part of their team is bigger than ever.
Thank you for allowing me to join you guys in such an eye opening experience.

Over the past 2 weeks, I have really enjoyed my time with the team. Everyone has been welcoming, supportive, and happy to share their knowledge and experiences. I have learned a lot about the skills and dedication that go into being a firefighter, and I am really pleased to have had the opportunity to experience what the role is like firsthand.
I'd like to thank everyone for making me feel a part of the team and for giving me this amazing opportunity. It's been a valuable experience that I will always remember, and I wish everyone at the station all the very best for the future.

During yesterday's TRT recurring proficiency training, our work experience students showed a profound interest. This morning, they both experienced Ascending and Descending using Rope Excess equipment for themselves.

Yesterday, 24th July was the end of work experience at the Fire Service for student Jaymie Lawrence, we asked Jaymie for some feedback, and this is her reply.
During my time with the FS, I gained valuable skills and a real understanding of what it takes to be a firefighter. Although I was originally there for 2 weeks, I enjoyed it so much that I stayed for a third.
I learned about the firefighters daily routines, including checking equipment, maintaining vehicles, and preparing for emergencies. I took part in a variety of training exercises, such as smoke and fire simulations, search and rescue scenarios, rope rescue, and casualty training. I learned how to operate pumps and hoses, and became familiar with the equipment carried on the fire engine.
I also saw the important work firefighters do within the community, such as delivering safety lessons.
Throughout my placement, I was impressed by the team's professionalism, dedication, and teamwork.
Overall, it was an exciting and memorable experience that strengthened my interest in the fire service.
