What exactly happens to your body when you train at high altitude?

Altitude training forces your body to adapt to lower oxygen levels, which leads to a higher VO2 Max, more Red Blood Cell production and better oxygen delivery to muscles.

In the short term, your breathing rate and heart rate increase to meet oxygen demands. Over time, these adaptations help you recover faster, perform better, and build long-term resilience.

Train smarter and unlock your body’s full potential at Elemental Altitude Training Center. 💨🏔️

🚨 HYROX Athletes: Looking for a Competitive Edge in Your Next Race? 🚨

Altitude training can help improve HYROX performance by training your body to use oxygen more efficiently, which gives you the endurance and recovery needed to push harder through every station and run.

Benefits of altitude training for HYROX athletes include:
- Increased oxygen delivery to working muscles
- Faster recovery between runs and functional workouts
- Improved aerobic endurance and anaerobic capacity
- Better lactate threshold and fatigue resistance
- Enhanced work capacity during high-intensity efforts

Whether you’re training for your first HYROX or chasing a PR, altitude training can help you perform stronger for longer.

What are the 3 training zones in high altitude training and which one should you use? 🏔️

Not all altitude training is the same. Your results depend on training in the right hypoxic zone for your goals.

Each zone targets different adaptations like endurance, recovery, power output, and oxygen efficiency. Knowing where you fit helps maximize your altitude training results and avoid wasted sessions.

Start training smarter with hypoxia training built around your goals.

Why am I not hydrated even though I drink a lot of water?

Because hydration isn’t just about water, it’s about replacing what you lose.

Most athletes lose different amounts of sodium in their sweat, and guessing your hydration is why cramps, fatigue, and performance drops happen.

Get your sweat tested today at Elemental!

‼️How to truly recover after workouts‼️

Traditional recovery only makes you feel better for a short period of time.

However, shifting your focus to recovery to improve muscle repair and adaptation after training will allow you to recover more efficiently.

Contrary to popular belief and in many cases simply incorrect conventional exercise wisdom, not every workout you do needs to be “felt” to be effective and productive. It’s just the opposite. Only a few workouts each week need to push your limits. The majority should lower on both intensity and heart rate. The same applies to athletes who regularly compete in competition. If you are frequently training at your “race pace” you are jeopardizing potential gains in performance.

As someone who has been coaching athletes for over 15 years, and has done hundreds of VO2 Max tests this problem is way more prevalent than you’d think. One of my favorite things to do when testing VO2 Max is to have the client not tell me what type of training or exercise they regularly do. After the test is over I can review the results and guess what they’re doing based on both the time between aerobic and anaerobic threshold, and how their body metabolizes fats and carbohydrates. In many cases it’s an eye opening moment for them to see the data, and understand why they’re not getting the results they’ve been looking for.

If you’re struggling with training, results, and recovery and want answers on how to improve these areas, reach out to us and schedule a test. To find out more, check out our website. Link in bio.
