Important: The Android Market is now the largest store in the world for free apps, with 68 percent of its titles going for nothing upfront, and 65 percent of the store's revenue being generated by a freemium model. In contrast, less than half of Apple's App Store revenue comes from free apps. The next big gap for Google to close will be in total income, as Apple collects around four times as much from its App Store as Google does from the Market — and that's before you even factor in the iPad.

Interesting: Apple is taking it on the chin and refunding all the people that purchased the app and the app was quickly removed from the App Store. The people that downloaded the app at 99 cents will get refunds for sure; it’s not clear if the folks that then purchased in-app items that were non-existent also get refunds on those in-app purchases. Presumably, they would get in-app purchase refunds too.

Important: Do you believe these rumours? It seems to me they might be right. I would bet the next gen iPad comes around february/march as well. I know for one thing that if Retina comes to iPad 3, then it will be a hell for the designers :-)

Gardner notes that sources within Apple's Asian supply chain have seen increased iPad parts orders for the March quarter, attributing the ramp-up to the "launch of a new iPad with double the screen resolution on the current model."

The analyst cites several sources who have confirmed the early 2012 launch, and notes that "there do not appear to be any significant technical hurdles remaining" to meet a February release date.
