Art_Value: on the value of art and capital
The Art_Value project examines the notion of political economy in the realm of art processes, i.e. production, circulation, and consumption. The economy standards and its influences on the art world and to the creation in general is a key theme of the project.
It is a speculative project questioning artwork’s reception and perception through economical principles, i.e. through rethinking the notion of the artwork as a commodity. It is also a critique of one of the main characteristics of the contemporary art world – the segregation of the art world and its public escalation of the monetary values.
Das Vegas is a conceptual artist alias of Vegas Simbelis. In his practice and research, via the potential of capital, he critically approaches infrastructures and power structures. Particularly interested in harnessing the hacking for humanizing of technology and disrupting the art market.
